Hey Randy, the yellow car is not a new Z06. It is Breathless Performance's modified C6. They sell body panels for the C6 to make it look like a new Z. Here is a link to their website that has the panels and pics of this actual car.
On the first race, what kind of Yellow (with checkered paint on the side) Z06 is that? It is running on some drag radials probably. The darn thing turned in a 11.342 and 125.71mph trap. The more I look at it the more it looked like an original test car GM has.
Dose anyone at the event know anything about this? Please share. That is a sweet run by maybe a 'ringer Z06'.
Now I see the rear and the spoiler lip is not as pronounced. IT had me going for a while. lasmith, do you know what kind of #'s do that particular C6 put out? That was heck of run.
Just did. Damn modem connection in the hotel is no good.
Here are the times by the black Z06 on the video:
1st run: 12.652/118.43mph
2nd run: 12.400/117.81mph
3rd run: 12.060/120.97mph (run by itself)
4th run: 12.128/120.97mph
5th run: 12.268/123.29mph
A Dark Blue C6:
1st run: 14.397/89.64mph (the driver was hitting the 100mph self-imposed speed limit )
2nd run: 12.906/112.22mph
Several C5 ran mid 13 and trapped 105~107mph range, which tells me that the tracks are running pretty normal. Maybe 1/10 or 2 slow.

Thanks Layne...I didn't know that. I knew some of the other ones were the real deal but wasn't sure about that one.
Did you notice that the C6 Z06 never shifts into 4th and runs the Quarter in the first 3 gears. That baby has got some long legs.
The latest information tells us that the new C6 Z06 will have the standard 6 speed transmission (non Z51) MN6 gear spacing. The new 325/30/19 rear tires have a diameter or 26.7 "
The C6 Z06 will be able to attain a speed of 125 MPH in 3rd gear at 7000 RPM or 128.6 MPH at 7200 RPM before it has to shifted into 4th gear.
Gear Ratio Final MPH @ 7000 RPM
1st 2.66 61.1
2nd 1.78 91.3
3rd 1.30 125.0
4th 1.00 162.6
5th 0.74 219.7

ok correct me if im wrong but, im sure the driver has a lot to do with it but why is the new Z runing mid 12's with 500hp, im not sure where this track is at but man ive read with the great driver out there we can pull into the 11's with our stock Z's.... any thoughts?

This might be a stupid question..but, does this mean, given the fact that the C6 Z redlines at 7K, that its absolute best trap speed will always yield 125 mph or below?

No such thing as a stupid question
All it means is on those runs that his speed did not exceed the need to shift into 4th gear. With a better track, weather conditions and driver the New C6 Z06 will be in 4th gear around the 1000' stripe in the 1/4 (1320')
For us drag racer's that baby is crying for 4.10's, which IMO is optimum for MN6 type gear spacing.
