C6 Z06 Makes More Than 505hp!!!!

As if it couldn’t any better. It looks like the new Z06 makes a lot more than 505HP!!!

From the “WE HEAR” section of this month’s (Nov-2005) Motor Trend:

“Chevrolet’s new 7.0-liter Corvette Z06 makes more than the advertised 505 horsepower…much more. Rumor is it makes up to 550 horses, which would explain its astonishing performance at the Nurburgring’s Nordschliefe. The downside, maybe, is that it would make the supercharged Blue Devil, which GM has never admitted is under development, superfluous. The blown engine also would power the Cadillac CTS-v+, so if the Blue Devil is canceled, so is the Caddy…”

Also, this month’s Motor Trend test of the new Viper Coupe, and last month’s Motor Trend Z06 test, yields the following:
0-60 MPH
SRT10 Coupe: 4.2 sec
Z06: 3.5 sec

0-100 MPH
SRT10 Coupe: 9.4 sec
Z06: 7.3 sec

¼ Mile
SRT10 Coupe: 12.2 sec / 118.0 MPH
Z06: 11.5 sec / 127.1 MPH

60-0 MPH
SRT10 Coupe: 111 ft
Z06: 104 ft

Motor Trend acknowledges that this Viper was slower than expected. It’ll be interesting when they do a head-to-head test.

To really compae the cars, they should be run on under the same condition as much as poosible. That being said the Z looks to be quite a bit stronger than the snake.

Heads up test with a Viper, a Ford Gt and a Ferrari 430. That will be cool to see. No excuses. Although I expect the Z06 to win, the Ford is nothing to sneeze at. I drove one tonight and it is very impressive. VERY IMPRESSIVE. Not just fast, but very balanced, smooth and corners like it is on rails! The Viper, which drives like a truck, to me, will be the worst performing of the group. At least in my opinion. Anyway, it should be fun. We all win when there are such good cars pushing the envelope! Of course, I am very partial towards the Z06!!!! America at it's best!

Since the GT's actual output is rumored to be more than 550Hp, I'd expect the performance numbers for GT and the Z06 to be very close and better than those of the Ferrari 430 and Viper. However, I would not be surprised to see the magazines pick the 430 in a head-to-head comparison. I don't think I've read anything even remotely negative about the 430.

You have a point. There is a snob appeal element in the press. But it (the 430) does seem to be a fine car. In the final analysis numbers will tell. If they go to the old standby....the Vette interior is inferior, we know what they are really saying....you trashed us on the track so...........

The 430 isn't very good looking, either. The nose looks like a swollen collander. At least it is not as ugly as that 1.2MM Veyron--ouch!!!

You must have missed the new Autpmobile mag that tested the GT vs. Viper vs. Z06. Maybe I should post it up on here.

The Z06 beat the Viper around the track by over 1 full second. It lost to the GT from 0-60, and lost to the GT around the track (Gingerman) by .03 secs. It beat the GT in the 1/4 mile and in braking. It also beat the Viper by 1' in braking.

Anywho, same day, same track conditions, etc...

No man it is a great age to be a car lover.... Just think the "slowest" of the cars comes from the factory with a 500hp V-10.... I love the HP wars we all benifit from it. And again I may have traded the Z for the Viper but rest assured when the prices drop below msrp just like on our 04Z and the Viper we just bought.... The snake will have another stable mate.... 07 Z maybe...

Yes, the car does make more than 505 hp. Two cars have already been dynoed.

one made 443 rwhp and one made 447 rwhp BONE STOCK. Both make over 505 bhp, with the 447 making 520 bhp based on 15%

Trust me after driving the 430 it is very hard not to call it one of the greatest cars of all time. The praose is very very well deserved. It's not just the horse. But I can't wait to get my Z
