The previous poll had 43% liking DSOM, with 20% liking it alot. If everyone bought the way they voted, that is 1 in 5 being orange on a car available in 6 colors. I wouldn't say that makes it unpopular.
My car is white, but it wasn't my first choice. I bought it used and got too good of a deal on it to pass up. I've grown to like it, but if I bought the new Z I'd choose DSOM over white. I agree with others though that both should be offered.
YES! White would be my first choice. Red would be second.
I found out owning a white Vette to be quite nice. No need to chase the swirls out of the paint like on the darker colors. White is less flash, but it looks cleaner when dirty and is nice and cool in the summer heat. Low maintenence is very attractive if you find few available hours in your day.
I always thought is was a weak car color consideration and went for black. That was until I owned a white car. I've owned four since.
Seeing cars lapping around a race track makes one appreciate colors differently as well. White, yellow and red are definitely the raciest colors on the track. They provide a lot of contrast between the car and track/ background.
Last, I like the Orange color in the daylight, but can't appreciate the color at all after the sun goes down.
