C6Z Top Speed Poll

OK, let's talk about top speed....I've heard numerous top speeds for the C6Z. Everything from "Over 190", "Well over 190", even a "202 on the test track". We know the speedo is only printed to 2 big ones, but could this car be well capable of exceeding that with a few mods? Not that we'll ever get very much of a chance (if ever) to top it out like that (at least not responsibly and safely).

So what do you think the "official" top speed will be?

Sorry, meant to put 191 for the first choice, but we all know it'll go faster than that, right? :-)

I guess at the end of the day, there has to be some official number. But I've always had a feeling that just the production variance from car to car is probably more than 1 MPH, not to mention environmental conditions and such.

I have no direct experience driving 6-digit-price exotics, but I've always heard one of the ways they are better than our Z's is in very high speed handlng, like 140MPH+. I wonder how the new Z is going to do in that department.

(Not that it matters to me - fastest I've had my car is 110, and that only once, passing a stream of 5 or 6 cars on a wide open road with miles of visibility and huge shoulders).

I went with 198, because Dave Hill said "Deep in the 190s", If it would do 200 no problem, he would have gladly said so...

I said it before and I say it again, how the hell can the new M5 brick do 200mph and the C6Z06 not be able to? Me thinks aerodynamics are overrated, and gearing is where it's at

I have a hard time believing the new M5 will do a "real" 200 mph. That is a GPS verified 200 mph, not 200 mph on the speedo. I've had my M5 (E39) up to 180 mph on the speedo.

I think the Ford GT managed 205 mph and the Murcielago 206 mph at Nardo. They need to take the new Z06 there and see what she can do. It's got the power to hit 200 but maybe not the gearing.

If our Z06 had a base C5 trans gearing they would do 186mph, given the 100hp extra and the more Aero Dynamic window, 200mph with no problem other then cops

doesnt the 500hp Viper do 200mph?
