C6Z06 competitive oil level

I see much about the C5Z, but what about the C6Z? I thought I read somewhere that the best oil level for competitive driving in the C6Z is less than 1/2 up the dipstick at most, but now I can't find that reference anywhere.

Please any thoughts? Going to BIR TOMORROW!!!

Re: C6Z06 competitive oil level

There is no need to change the oil level when you road race a C6Z. They are equipped with a dry sump system instead of a wet. This eliminates the need for overfilling when road racing.

Re: C6Z06 competitive oil level

If you go much above the half-way mark (measured per owners manual) and you track the car, you may get the oil backing up into the air bridge from the breather tube, trickle down into the air filter and puddle under the driver side of the radiator. In the process of doing this, it may loosen the lower hydrocarbon pad in the air bridge, which can cause fluttering at high rpm or, if it comes totally loose, it can take out your throttle body.

Re: C6Z06 competitive oil level

Thanks guys. That is what I was looking for. I actually already tracked it with oil almost at the top of the dip stick, after the day it was at 1/2 way up (250 miles!)..I'll check for oil out of the engine, etc, but the car just plain ran great (until I almost ran out of gas, but that would be my fault )
