I know what CAGS does, but does it physically prevent you from shifting to any other gear other than 4th? Today I got the 1-4 light and I thought I was going to 4th but ended up in second by mistake and nothing seemed abnormal.
Also for the override, can you see the override when its installed or is it completely unnoticeable?
If you have a "CAGS Eliminator" installed you can shift into second and you are not forced into fourth! The display will still show the 1st to fourth message!
I installed the eliminator as soon as I got the car home from the dealer (30 mile ride on I-95) so I have very little experience using the tranny before "CAGS Elimination"!
Do you know if the car has a "Cags eliminator installed"?

It does not have one right now. I'm thinking of buying one. It just seems weird that I shifted into 2nd by accident with the 1-4 on. Maybe I just shifted really slow and let my speed go higher than 19 or whatever the cutoff is.
No CAGS..I just wind first out until 2800 or so and then shift to 3rd ... I find it easier to go from 1, 3, 5 in traffic. I wouldn't recommend that for street or track though.
Otherwise, no it will not hurt your car, unless you lug the engine ....
