cam and headers

Guys is it common knowledge to install headers with the cam. Has anyone just done the cam minus the headers? Does it free up that much more HP. Thanks i'm trying to get a idea of what i want to do with my car.

Actually, the stock manifolds flow very well on the C6 Z. You can get away with a cam swap, intake and tune. You can also port the TB and intake manifold for a little more air. Good luck.

Re: cam and headers

These same manifolds are used on the 638 HP ZR1, so they are probably OK with our 505 + a cam.

That being said, I wouldn't run an agressive cam with the stock exhaust system. Long tubes are better. Why spend the big bucks for a cam install without the headers? It's not like you are maintaining your warranty by keeping the exhaust stock.
