which cam package?

i have been looking at cam packages and am left undecided at which is best? i saw the lingenfelter head/cam package for $8600 and claims 630 hp (i assume at the crank) and offers a 3 year warranty. and i have also found MTI that offers a similar stage 2 for $7300 with a one year warranty. are there other choices and which is better for performance. and which company is better as far as service and reliability. i come from a world where the aftermarket is full of scum, so i have a bad taste about sending my car off to anyone....

thanks all.

Since you are in NJ, I would look at using either Cartek or ECS, they are both top-notch and will treat you right. Neither are site sponsors here anymore so I can't post links for you. Just google them. I know that they will be a way better value than either of the 2 you mentioned and they are local. That counts for ALOT in my way of thinking. Good luck!

Re: which cam package?

If you want lots of power and don't mind a choppy idle, consider Quality motorsports in Dallas TX. Here's three graphs, showing stock, their bolt ons, and then with their cam.

Cold air intake, 160 thermostat, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold, long tube headers, and a tune.

Re: which cam package?

I recommend the Quality Motorsports QM600 cam. Quality Motortsports will do you right, great customer service and support!

They do all my performance mods, wouldn't trust anyone else. I will be getting the QM600 Cam/Springs set up later this month. At present they have done AR Long Tubes w/hi-flow cats, Vette Air CAI, Halltech Killer Bee, ported T/B, Ported & polished intake, 160 tstat, & tune. Dynoed 442/419 stock, 490/462 after.

Check them out.

Wow, our numbers match almost exactly. You'll LOVE that cam. And so will everybody around you when the butterfly's are open.

Re: which cam package?

Does anyone have a contact number or email for someone at quality motorsports. And also a person I should speak with directly.

If you can't reach Carlos, Patrick will take care of you. I was at the shop the other day and was lucky to hear a QM600 install on it's first start. WOW! Now I have heard several QM600 cammed cars, and I can honestly say audio clips do not do them justice

They have really R&D'd this cam, and can tune it for optimum performance/driveability.

Why have someone halfway across the country do the work when you have at least 2 good, reputable tuners close by?
Get in touch with some of the Northeast crew - they can relate their experiences. Undertaker, Don Benson, JBsZ06, PriestYates, Trynkeepup, .....just a few off the top of my head.
