I just sold my 07' Z06. It was the greatest driving car I've ever had but the black interior was too hot after driving on the superslab for more than a hour. Even with the a/c running on high the ambient temp is too high to be comfy. So I just went today to pick up my 08' Z06 Red with Linen (tan) interior. The salesperson swore up and down that the interior was tan in color with almost no black. Was I ever suprised and (and pissed) to find the opposite to be true, all black with very little Tan (linen) . I'm thinking of swaping out the interior for a coupes tan. The dealer will do the work for free. Does anybody have any other ideas for me?
Get tinted windows, park in the shade, hire an intern to wave a fan on you from the passenger seat, have a positive mental attitude, and stay . Oh, and never believe a car salesperson.

Well, I live in Tucson(AZ) and it gets hot as hell here for sure. I have the same excat setup as your car, my car is red with black interior(dark gray).
I recommend you do a 20% tint of a high quiality material(like formula one), then have a shop put a dark tint strip in top of the windshield, last but not least, use a protective windshield shade whenever you can(when the car is parked).
My A/C works very well, I recenly drove other new cars and the Z06 A/C rocks. That is my.2c
I have a black 08 Zo6 and live in south Florida. On the hwy it's fine. Initially around town it's fine. But if it's hot out and you are in traffic or around town for any length of time it gets hot inside. The problem isn't your interior color. It's the 3" exhaust going down the middle of the car. The cure is kinda cheap and easy if you want to do it. First would be interior insulation. exoticvette.com has a nice precut kit that was recommended to me which I just ordered. Second would be a new tunnel plate which cuts the heat also. Google thermal abs. These two mods cure most all stock Z's. It is a race car for the street not a BMW, I feel they just didn't address this but it is easily rectified. Also I have a good tint to combat the sun. Good luck

Re: can't stand the heat!
Good advice above. Tint, reflective windshield shade and tunnel plate for those 1 hour drives in traffic. I have an 04Z and those seem to work for me out here in the middle of the Arizona desert. I don't have any 1 hour drives in traffic like you do but it usually takes a 3 hour drive to go somewhere (Phoenix or San Diego). And it really gets freakin hot here in the summertime.
