I've been running the Durastop ceramics on my 02 for a couple of years. The reduction in brake dust is huge, the reducting in brake effectiveness is minimal. However...
I'd been getting a brake squeek at low speeds from the RR. As part of some other work that needed doing, I removed the caliper and noticed that the ceramic pad was completely separated from the steel backing plate. I inspected more. Of 8 pads on the car, 5 were either totally delaminated or well on their way to being that way.
The pads were about 2 years old. I am not a "heavy" braker (I like to down shift, even though I know clutches are a lot more expensive to replace than brake pads). Seems like a defect in materials/design.
Curiously, GM has a one-time replacement warranty on the Durastop pads. Warranties on *any* friction part, especially when installed aftermarket, as I'm sure most everyone knows, are pretty much unheard of. Leads me to conclude GM knows they have (or had, I'm hoping) a problem with these parts.

Norm...I have the Hawk ceramics on. got them in a GP from LG through StopTech for $250. Have had them on for two weeks now. Haven't had to wipe any dust off of them and they slow pretty good (like from 130 down to 65...even though that never happened... ). They don't have the "bite" that the stock pads have. But I can live with that because when you jump on them, they slow very well. Of course for street only. And very, very little dusting.
Look them up on the Hawk website. I think you will like them.
What about Performance Friction? Do they make carbon metallic pads for the C6Z? I had them on my 96 Impala SS and they has minimal dust and great stopping power (better than stock). Ceramic sounds good, but I'm just not willing to sacrifice any performance from the stock pads... I just want cleaner ones!
I would wait and see if they wear out the rotors faster. I can live with the dust as long as they perform like they do on the street.
So keep cleaning them wheels, Norm. It's a good work out for ya!

Since this thread is almost 2 years old does anyone have new information or experience with ceramic pads on the C6 Z06?
Looking for low dust & no noise.
Where did you get them?

Haven't tried them on my Z, but on a BMW I had, the EBC Greens sucked & the red's were only 'OK'. The red's did have less dust than the OE BMW pads, but also ate up the rotors faster.
Personally I haven't been fond of the ceramic pads I've tried, but I've been known to brake heavily at times & want the confidence that they'll be there no matter what I ask of them.
I have been running the Hawk ceramics on my 07 C6 Z06 for about 2,000 miles and love them. VERY low dust, no noise, and haven't seen a lip forming on the rotors (indicative of rotor wear). If you want them to bite like stock pads you MUST turn the rotors to remove any old pad material and give a fresh surface for the new pads, then bed the pads correctly. I did this and they are great.
