Change in LS7 Specs-Is this a typo?

Was:

The 7.0L LS7 engine for the 2006 Corvette Z06 is the first to be certified under the new test procedure at 505 horsepower @ 6300 rpm and 470 lb-ft @ 4800 rpm.

Week of 5/30/2005
Effective 5/30/2005, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:


Exterior section-(Q10) Wheels, Z06 silver painted aluminum, changed extended description to now read "18" x 9.5" (45.7 cm x 24.1 cm), front and 19" x 12" (48.3 cm x 30.48 cm), rear".
Exterior section-(QL9) Wheels, Z06 polished aluminum, changed extended description to now read "18" x 9.5" (45.7 cm x 24.1 cm), front and 19" x 12" (48.3 cm x 30.48 cm), rear".
Mechanical section-(LS7) Engine, 7.0L (427 ci) LS7 V8 SFI, changed extended description to now read ", (505 hp [376.6 kW] @ 7000 rpm,470 lb.-ft. [634.5 N-m] @ 4800 rpm), includes dry sump oil system"
Mechanical section-(FE4) Z06 Performance Handling Package, changed short description to now read "Z06 Performance Package".
Color and Trim section-(45U) Velocity Yellow, changed name to now read "Velocity Yellow Tintcoat".

The GM press release (SAE) test procedure J2723 has it at 6300rpm.

Yes, but hp is on a curve so the peak hp has to be specified at a given rpm.

505 horsepower @ 6300 rpm makes more sense to me

All the early numbers did show 500 HP @ 7,000 RPM however.

It's 6300 rpm. That's where the power peak was originally when the output was 500 hp. The 7000 rpm has been the redline all along.

Looks like our friend who posted the original thread was right in regards to the 505 HP @ 7000 RPMS...

From Halltech on the DC forums..
