clutch stuck? 420 miles?

Got in my Z the other day and the clutch only comes off the floor about 1/2 way and then I have to pull it up with my foot. Some times it sticks all the way to the floor! Plan on taking it to the dealer but thought someone might know before I take it in...

Re: clutch stuck? 420 miles?

Probably a leak or defect in the hydraulics somewhere. Let the dealer take care of it,,,,that's what warranties are for. Good luck!

I had this happen twice in my 08 Z06. I then flushed the resivour a few times and the fluid is back to black but haven't had the problem. Im going to take it in the dealer ASAP.

It's hard to believe this is still happening on Z06s. Maybe GM should go back to cable operated clutches.

Amazing - I was mildly upset when the clutch in mu then bone stock 2001 Z06 got stuck, and after having paid $38,000 for the car used, I was thinking "Wow - but I guess for $38K I can't really complain."

Then I saw folks who were paying $50K fo rnew ones suffered the same fate...

Now to think even though the price of the complete car is now over $70,000 it still suffers from the same issues... 8 years later (my car is a 2000 build).

I can only imagine ho wunstuck I would come if my new (or used) C6 Z06 displayed the same flaw as my 2001 did.

I would go ballistic if my 2009 ZR1 suffered the same fate - and I am willing to put $50 in the pool that the 2009 ZR1 suffers from the same issues.

This is why I never even considered buying a new Z06 of any year after my experiences with the 01.

Even though "this is what warranties are for" - the problem i show GM tries their level best to side step the issues during the warranty period.

It is a sad testimony of GM as a whole, if the only reliable solution to their own clutch problem is the regimine of fluid changes that Ranger figured out.

Good luck sir, and sorry you ar esuffering the same issues we suffered for years now - one woudl have thought that GM would have stopped using the buying public as test drivers a long time ago

I sure hope that the new twin disc clutch in the ZR1 does the job! I, like both you guys had a sticky clutch, but was lucky enough to get it replaced under my GMPP. (I bought a Tex 0Z700 and made them put that in!) I still find it had to swallow that GM hasn't accepted the fact yet that the pressure plate in the stock clutches is not strong enough and that the hydraulic line from the master to the clutch either needs to be re-routed or insulated from the exhaust heat to correct this problem. All I gotta say is thank God for the aftermarket manufacturers that have addressed this problem and for all the forum members who have figured out remedies to keep us on the road and on the track. If this $hit happens to the ZR1, that would be very sad, to say the least. A Vette that costs north of 100k better be as near flawless as possible.
Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: clutch stuck? 420 miles?

Understand the problem and the frustration but was wondering the type of driving. Did your clutch stick at 420 miles of normal driving or ?
Good luck with the issue,
