disable auto headlights

This is how to disable the auto headlights and keep the DRL.

- remove the grill over the center speaker on the dash
- twist and remove the ambient light sensor from the grill cover
- disconnect the light sensor (tip, might have to use a needle nose to push to release it cause it's very tight)
- get some 2.2k 1/2 watt resistors
- put a resistor on the side with the yellow wires (you may have to trim the resistors so it doesn't stick out)
- put some electrical tape around the resistors
- for aesthetics, put the light sensor back on the grill cover
- put grill cover back on
- ya done!

ok...did another test and don't be so quick to mod. Looks like this will disable the auto headlights along with the control lights (hud control, hvac, power window controls) Looks like it won't turn the backlight on these controls. Back to most of the drawing board!!!

I hate auto headlights. That would be the first thing I would want to get rid of on a C6 Z.

Sometimes they do get annoying. While waiting on a red light sitting under a bridge, lights would come on. Of course, backing out of the garage.

Anybody try going to the dealer to see if they can change the programming so they auto lights don't default to "auto"?
