Do the C6 Z06 owners hear the clicking/relay noise when tapping the brake pedal?

Hi all,

Unfortunately I had to sell my C5 Z06 and got a C6 2008 (can't afford the C6 Z06).

The thing that drives me nut know is that everytime I tap on my brake, I could hear like a clicking noise/relay switch.

When I test drove the car, I didn't hear it, if I did, I wouldn't buy the car :-)

The car now has about 250 miles and start making the noise around 220 miles.

Other folks with the C6 have experienced the same problem but not all of them and when they brought it to the dealership the dealership says it's normal.

Do any of the C6 Z06 owners experiencing the same issue? or this is just an exclusive feature for the C6 owners? :-)

I can't accept that this is normal especially it didn't happen when it was new but only happens after sometime (is this the break in period behavior for C6 ). Some folks started to hear the noise after a year (6000 miles), some like me (lucky) had it only after a few days (200 miles)

Never noticed, but perhaps your ears are better, or there's less noise in your Vette. Do you think it's the brakelamp switch?...can you hear it if you crawl under there and move the pedal by hand?

It's actually pretty noticable, that's why it drives me nuts. If I the power is off and I press the break (although the break light is on), I don't hear the noise. However, once I put on the power in "acc" and press the break then I can always here the click (noise) everytime I tap on the brake pedal. The engine of the car doesn't have to be turned on.

Oh wow..., so it looks like this might be happening to all C6. Have you ever brought it to a dealership to see if there's a solution to it? Or are you are ok with it? When did it start happening with your C6 Z06?

Noticed it the first day but hadn't never thought of it as a problem. I didn't know if it was one of those Z06 traits, like the little shimmy from the cam. I remember a few guys taking their cars to the dealership b/c they thought something was wrong with their cars. I may ask the dealership but it won't be this week...busy week.

Completely normal. My 06 Z did it and so does my 08 Z. If you really want to hear clicking, go out in the garage at night when it's quiet and open the door and get in with the fob in your pocket. Don't close the door or start the engine, just listen for a couple of minutes. The relays will play a symphony for you.

Thanks for your reply. I do also hear the symphony that you're taking about but the sound that drives me nut is the brake light clicking noise.

Are you also hearing the clicking when you tap on the brake pedal and light up the brake light (just to confirm)?

The reason why I don't think that this is normal because it didn't make that sound for my first 200 miles of the car and now it is kind of driving me nuts (at least a little bit ).

Yup! Pressing the brake pedal really gets things going. Betcha you were too excited in the 1st 200 miles to notice.

Put on a set of Bullets, turn up the tunes and enjoy the car.

Hey, Me too. Hard to beleive a $75,000 car can make that tinny clicking sound. I did however find a cure. Sit back. Turn up the radio and hit the gas pedal !!
