Fuel injector cleaners

Is it necessary to add a fuel injector cleaner once in awhile to your gas? Is there one cleaner better than another?

I do not drive my Z very much and do not want to have the injectors "gum" up on me.

Or is it ok just to "blow out the gunk" like in the old days?

Re: Fuel injector cleaners

If you only use the same brand of gas all the time then the same cleaning agents are used.
Better is if you use multi gas brands each use different cleaning agents and overall would do a better job of cleaning all internals of fuel system

Worse is Ethanol in gas sitting over time grows crap and attracts water at bottom of both tanks so using a fuel and injector cleaner should be done a regular basis.

Because of this never leave fuel tanks at a low level.

Re: Fuel injector cleaners

I run Techron Plus Concentrate through mine now and then, but it is mostly to make my fuel level senders happy.

I make sure I only park the car for extended periods with non-ethanol fuel in it. Ethanol has this annoying ability to separate over time and leave you with 3 distinct layers of liquids in your fuel tank. Water, Ethanol, and gas. Since the water sinks to the bottom, your car gets to suck it in first.

I swear Ethanol was created as a stimulus for mechanics.

What are you using as non-ethanol fuel? I use Techron regularly in all my vehicles, and Sta-Bil for Ethanol based fuels when storing for the winter.
