How many cars do you think we'll see for the '06 model as they are cranking them out? Someone told me they're only going to crank out or planning to crank out 5k for this year.
With GM hurting financially and these cars getting MSRP or higher, unlike everything else they make, you can bet that they are figuring out how to make as many as possible. They will be limited only by their supplier constraints...how many engines or CF panels can they make? Exclusivity is not in their vocabulary!! Dealers want them, the public wants them so GM will want them!! Decrease C6 quantities and increase the Z06 build numbers.
The marketing plan estimates that 5,600 will be sold. However, GM and all its Z06 suppliers have to provide up to 7,000 sets of parts -- so that is the maximum capability.
The reason why the VINS are now up to 4,000 is that starting with about 600, they became intermingled with regular C6 coupes and convertibles.

The production run started so late, I don't see how production inventory of Z06s amounting to 5,000 or so cars can be built and sold without there being a build up of dealer inventories by mid 2006.
I find it hard to believe that an individual who wants a Z at MSRP will have to wait till September in 06 for an 07 model.
I'm fifth in line at my dealership and I believe they have only two allocated. However they do not think it will be a problem ordering late this year or early next year.
Is it possible to find out how many C6 Zs have been made so far?

Somewhere under 1000 as best I can figure. I did a cursory search today with a database, but wasn't fully satisfied with the query. I'll rewrite the query on Monday and get better data.
I was wondering this after a trip to the dealer this weekend revealed that they are only making 2000 Z's for the 06 model year. I'm wondering...was this BS or truth? Were they just trying to "bait" somebody because they had one incoming? I kinda though they'd be making a whole lot more than 2000, especially since dealers are still charging premiums on them.

Doing extrapolation math and not allowing for "ramp up" - if 1000 C6Zs got made in September and October, roughly 500 per month, then the 5000 is easily obtainable in a 10 month period. GM will certainly want to make as many high profit cars as we want to purchase.

2500 is what I heard yesterday from corvette conti in Amherst......he says that they are going slow to make usre it is right and the first year will not hit the 5000 unit mark by a long shot.
