.....the forum goes down. It that cruel or what?
I've had the C6Z since Sat. morning and can't tell a soul that I finally located the car of my dreams.
Black/Black, 2LZ & NAV, that's it. Looks mean as hell!
I pulled the exhaust fuse before it left the showroom floor. The salesman was looking at me like "WTF?". He understood immediately when the car was started. Said he'd never heard of that. (There's a lot that salemen never heard of). Ordered a 1/2 dozen PF48 filters from the parts guy who never heard of them either.
The drive from Dallas to Wichita Falls was pure agony. I wanted to get on it sooooo baddddddd, but I promised myself that I'd wait 'til 500 miles and the first oil change before making the tach dance. There is no question that this is not your father's '02 Z. It pulls in 4th gear like the '02 did in 3rd. 1650 RPM in 6th gives you 77MPH. A couple of bursts to 80-85 and some time in 5th every 15 minutes or so should aid in seating the rings and satisfy the need to vary the RPM. On-ramps are pure temptation. Almost wished for a tollbooth or three.
About 20 miles from home, a guy in a Mustang GT with paper plates pulls onto the hiway just in front of me and I couldn't help but pass him at about 85. He hangs on the right rear, eyeballing the Z, then goes to the left rear for another look. Finally, when we get to town, he passes us, gives a thumbs-up and mouths the words "That's beautiful".
The rumble of the exhaust at idle and while decelerating is intoxicating and addictive. While I admit to poking at the throttle, it's obvious that you really need to pay attention to what's going on because this puppy can get away from the best of us.
New vanity plates are on order but I'm not saying what's on 'em 'til I got 'em. Let's just say the guys from the late 60's will understand immediately.
Oh, BTW, the NAV system is neat, but a b!tch to learn.
Congrats! I'm sooooooooo jealous. Post some pics when you get the time.
