Intake and Tune question

New to the Z06 phenomenon. Love this car and want to start doing some mods...
I see a lot of various intakes out there (Killer Bee, Honker, hurricane, K&N, etc...). Are there any pros/cons between the various brands? Any suggestions appreciated. Seems that the Killer Bee is the most popular.

Newbie question on tuning....is it mandatory with the intake upgrade? With different tuners out there and tunes, which one is better than the next? Again, any input is greatly appreciated.

I know there are a couple of different shops in/around Tampa. Any recommendations for or advice on which ones to stay away from?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Intake and Tune question

Depends on how stock you want to stay, whether you want to cut the radiator shroud....etc. The KB is an excellent choice, the K&N, when it is re-released, is also. There are pros and cons to both the open and closed systems. I prefer the open systems like the above.

Re: Intake and Tune question

A vote for the Haltech in the link below:

Don't know if a tune is required, or a "relearn" will adjust to the new intake. Some concerns over the warranty language ... a tune may void it.
want to faster ..but...

Re: Intake and Tune question

Any info on what the price of a good tune would run for a C-5 Z06? What would you guys pay?

Here in Switzerland, salaries are pretty high and any manual work costs a fortune. (I am not complaining though because in general it is excellent quality).

I have a "local" tuner specialised in Club Racers and his preparation for the 540 Hp tune (here in Switzerland the Z06 '=( arrives with a homologated 515 HP) for $2'000

to a fully modified 620 HP engine rebuild (no compressor) with aero kit for.....$60'000 over stock.

So you take your pick and pays your money.....

Here is the details of the standard tune:

Google translation: So it can be pretty funny.

Level 1

Electronic programming, CH-Page Rankingüfstandsgetestet Ms. $2,000 .-

Level 2

Electronic programming, widerstandärmerer air filters, Long Tube
Stainless steel exhaust collectors, widerstandsärmere Metallkat's (requires
Adaptation of PCM) $ 6'800

I have included a translation of the pages, as the information is of particular interest to anybody tuning. The company and pricing is moot, as they are in Switzerland, so unless you have a C130 handy, I reckon the moderators will let this one go. (pretty please) I have no connection with them, I am a client only.

Translated version of http://www.us-carconnection.ch/

Note that CHF, for Swiss franks gets translated to Ms (Money Swiss???) But anyways is near 1 Swiss frank to 1 Dollar at the moment (Sorry guys).
