Newbie with Clutch Problem

Hi, I am the new owner of a 2006 Z06. It has 13,000 miles and is stock at this time .
My problem occured tonight while shifting fom second to third, the clutch pedal went down as normal and never returned from that possition . The clutch pedal is now stuck on the floor, it does come up if assisted by hand but there is no activation of the clutch . I was not hard on the car at the time this happened ,in fact I had my little girl with me and shifted normal when it happened .

Any ideas ?? TSB?? Thanks in advance, Paul

Re: Newbie with Clutch Problem

1. Open cap on reservoir, see if clutch fluid is mucky looking.

2. If so, using a turkey baster or plastic syringe, remove all of the fluid from the reservoir.

3. Refill with DOT4 brake fluid.

4. Replace cap.

5. Move clutch pedal down and up about 20 times.

6. Remove cap and look at fluid. It will probably look murky again.

7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 until the fluid isn't murky any more (maybe 4 - 6 times).

8. Replace cap (very important ).

9. See if that has cured the problem.

Suggest you talk to the service manager and preferably the mechanic to find out what the "fix" is ...
Then tell us!

Their usual answer is that they can't duplicate the problem - but we shall see . . .

If I'm not mistaken, there is a bulletin from GM for that exact problem with the clutch pedal. Don't know the exact wording but my 07 convertible did the same thing under warranty. The dealership replaced the clutch because the self adjustors bind up causing the clutch to over adjust. Check with your dealership and definitely talk to the tech who does the Corvette work about it! Good luck!

The only thing I would add to this list is to make sure you have some old towels placed around the reservoir (clutch fluid will damage paint).
