I occasionally cruise the "other" car forums and man all I can say is they are buzzing with the news of the new Z. Its really incredible and a full mix of comments -- some telling tales of how they will sell their car to buy the new Z, others boasting about "their" HP advantage (with many mods I might add), others taking shots at our Vettes by stating "they look good parked infront of Walmarts, etc". All I can say is its incredible for GM to launch this car and stir up so much emotion!! The car is going to be great and I truly believe it has a ton of other car guys either wanting to jump ship (to our Z's) or scared out of their minds that "there is now a superior car to anything out there". In any regard thanks to GM -- it makes the anticipation really worth the wait!!

Very well stated RTY2005. It truly IS a marvelous machine.

Check out Zippy's continuing thread with new pics from Detroit Auto Show. This is an exciting time for Chevy performance.

It's just a frickin' shame it's C6 styling is so pedestrian and uninspiring. I will not be paying $70k for any car who's styling is boring, regardless of it's performance (..and why I never considered buying a Cobra Mustang).

I will have to see the Viper Coupe in person first before I make a decision on whether to buy it instead. However, just looking at the pictures, it's not looking promising. If that's the case, I will be buying an ACR GTS Viper, which may very well be the most beautiful, muscular-looking car ever built.

I am SO disappointed with GM and the 'K-Car' styled C6 it vomited upon everyone. Rescue that slab-sided box with a wide-body!!!

Ferrari Forums, MB forums, Viper forums (Specially this one), etc..are all MIND BOGGELED with this car and its stats. I dont blame them because USUALLY, GM over hypes and under deliveres. Not this time fellas. This car is going to be something else i tell ya. Competiton, here we come knocking on your doors!!

To me, it's 'C6' styling bashing, not 'Z06' bashing.

The Z06 is truly a phenomenal car in every way, shape, and form from strictly a hardware perspective. Unfortunately, all that high-performance hardware is covered up by low-performance, messed-up boxey styling. It's not just me either as none of my friends are impressed with it and call it a 'yawner'.

I am truly envious of all who appreciates the C6's styling since it has spoiled the new Z06 for me.

Lets hope someone comes out with a body kit for the C6 ASAP! At the very least new front and rear facia caps maybe something like the tiger shark look or what Callaway does for it's cars.

It seems like at least 80% of the guys on Viperclub like the new Z. That just goes to show that it's quite a nice machine.

Ah, I am not tickled by the C6 look (I have a Myellow C6) but its starting to grow on me now -- I think the new Z with the performance coupled with the interior goodies and AH make it a super car especially for a price range of $60 to $70k. You really cant beat it!! We all need to see the car in person to really judge. The pictures (for any car) leave alot to be desired....and, like wine and women, taste and beauty are completely in the eyes of the beholder....

MAYBE there's hope then (..and that's a BIG maybe).

There is no doubt here.

I've already seen the C6 several times and was not even remotely impressed. Those tacked-on-looking flares on the rear of the Z06 don't do a thing for me since they remind me of what Ford does/did with it's Mustang by tacking on all those gawd-awful-looking scoops, etc, versus having a smooth, shapely, sexy, integrated look like a wide-body implementation would give.

The front fenders of the Z look great, but the rear is horrible! Since GM was building new molds anyway for the rear quarters, how much more effort/imagination would it have taken them to make the rear quarters a wide-body configuration and give the car some much-needed 'hips'??

I agree. However, it is pretty safe to say that most men would prefer a lean, curvacious woman (..see the Z06Vette.com shaking 'boobies' above), versus someone like Popeye's Olive Oil who is straight as a board.

C6-styling with it's complete lack of 'hips' is the 'Olive Oil' of the high-performance automotive world; thanks GM for the ugly girlfriend!!!

It is highly regarded in the Porsche circles. But they are generally more enthusiastic about machines than the average Vette poster.

And don't start flaming me. I haven't seen a single blatantly negative post on the new Z06 on a Porsche board. Not one. Let's just leave it at that...

That was GM's intention, and I'm sure the reactions of the Porsche and Viper camps please them. GM seems pretty unconcerned with the reaction of current owners, by comparison.
