Like this post from a Porsche forum?...

"It's still GM junk and when you go to get it serviced good luck. I wonder if the C6 will rattle a little less than the other vette's I've had?"

Touche'. I'm had.

But remember, if that guy got out of a Porsche and sat behind a rattling Z06 clutch, he would probably think the thing was about to grenade. Regardless, you got me... hehehe...

And you know what I haven't done that I really need to do. I need to go apologize to some of the Porsche board guys who have bad mouthed Vettes and Vette drivers in front of me.

We are a pretty tough skinned bunch by default. Some of those Porsche guys lead pretty sheltered automotive lives. And man, I have really said some rude man type things to them... Very not cool...

Ah, I have come to the conclusion that who really cares...yeah, I wish our new Z looked different, but, I like the Vettes and will stay loyal to them...my C6 look is starting to grow on me.....in researching these other forums (and as I have stated).."who cares what they think" -- guys on Viper forums or Porsche Forums arent going to choose our Vettes over their cars in terms of desired favorites....there are only a few number of Viper members that even post on those forums and its generally "fun" to play around with each other taking shots at our cars. Anyone who has sat in or driver a Viper compared to our Vettes knows the difference and we all cant wait to drive the new Z (even if the Viper Coupe is coming out -- same HP, more weight). For now we wait -- there have been some pretty explosive posts on some of these other car forums about our Z -- seems it has everyone anxious to some degree - - GM certainly has the marketing engine buzzing now -- when the MotorTrend, Car and Track etc get the car to test it I sure hope it stands up...... (and I am certain it will)!

Ah, I see more Porsches around my area then Vettes..the Porsche thing REALLY reminds me of the middle ager who wants to reclaim something and not the Vette driver IMHO. I think most Porsches (exception the GT) look like VW Bugs or some sort of snail creature. I dont like Lambo's or Ferraris either. IMHO the Viper (GEN I and GENII) are the most exotic looking, followed by the Vettes...the rest pale in comparison.

Gotta love this animation huh?

Why get a Porsche when a Stock Z06 will out handle, out accelerate, and brake better than it?? Because it says "Porsche" in the back??

I will NEVER buy a car for its name only. The new Z06 will do EVERYTHING better than a porsche in STOCK trim (except the 500K CGT)..thanks, but no thanks!!

I think Zlicious brings up a good point. None of the Porsches under $500k will look or peform as well as the new Z. It does seem like some people here just assume that because a car is German it will have higher quality or "better engineering", something like that.

The fact of the matter is, in the three years I've owned Corvettes and Vipers, I have never had one single mechanical problem. I know porsches are notorious for having these types of problems as the mileage gets higher.

Tony, I am surprised at your comments on Lambos and Ferraris though. I went to the autoshow, and the two cars that stood out to me were the 575 Superamerica as being the classiest, and the Murcielago roadster by far the prettiest. IMO, the best looking car ever was the 99 Diablo Roadster. I guess everyone has there different tastes.

But I agree with you about Porsches, they just don't do it for me.

Andy, some Lambo and Ferrari models are ok but generally not for me. I like the Vettes and the Vipes.. I agree though at the car shows the real exotics put on a nice show/display.

Two considerations;

1) Looks are in the eye of the beholder.

2) The only logical Porsche to consider when talking about the "new" ZO6 would be the "new" 997 Turbo when it comes out. My guess is the two cars will be very close in overall performance.

Maybe because someone likes the way the Porsche drives better than the way the ZO6 drives?

Or maybe because someone likes the way the Porsche looks better than they like the way the ZO6 looks?

P.S. A stock ZO6 will not out accelerate a stock Turbo, and the difference in acceleration is even greater between a stock X50 Turbo and a stock ZO6.

How can you like the look of a porsche more than a Z06? haha, ok, that was just a joke.

A stock Z06 will too out accelerate a stock 996 TT. I have raced a few on the track and from a roll, and not one time did i loose in either races. I will say that we did not go past 130 on the roll races, and i know the Porsches are strong past that, so i dont know. But from experience, that is what i encountered.

But until Porsche announces a 997 TT, and when the numbers come out, then we can talk about the two. As of now, lets just celebrate the new Z06 being the king of the hill for the next few years for any car under 200K

Oh, and i dont gamble by the way. This will be strictly a race to prove my point Looking forward to a PM from you.
