Picked up mine last Friday

And found the site down when I tried to post the good news Saturday.Tsk,Tsk.Now that we can communicate again, thought I'd
post some first impressions(will try to post some pics later).
Trust me,those of you still waiting will find the wait quite worthwhile, you will not be disappointed with this car.Mine is VY with ebony interior,1LZ with polished wheels & sound system.Build quality is the best I have seen on a Vette;paint looks great.
Now to initial driving impressions.Considering I haven't really pushed it yet, handling is amazing.Tried some tight low speed corners, which the car handled perfectly, like it was on rails.I was in a higher gear than I would normally use, trying to keep the RPM,s down.Handling appears much more balanced than my C5Z06,very poised and predictable. Some bump steer and tramlining(on a stretch of road guaranteed to produce same),but much less than on the C5 version.I don't find the suspension at all harsh-it feels more compliant, but roll stiffness in corners seems more than adequate.Shift throws noticeably shorter, with
very precise engagement-if you miss a shift now,it's your fault!
This engine is great, plenty of torque, revs very willingly, like it wants to run and run hard.I am trying(with some difficulty) to restrain my impulses in that direction until I get it properly broken in.
Some of you have commented on the clutch effort....I agree with those impressions-it definitely feels lighter, though very positive in engagement.Should be easy to get used to.
Steering is very precise,no slop or play at all.Like the new steering wheel-feels much better to me than the old version.
Once everything is settled in,this car is going to be a BLAST to drive, and as others here have said,it looks better in person than it does in pictures.Hats off to GM on this one!

Can't end this without a big thank you to Dave Herndon and his staff at Herndon Chevrolet in Lexington,SC,especially Carter Harmon.I bought my first Vette from him and will buy my next one there also-they are great folks to deal with!
Just one question-will someone PLEASE tell me where that exhaust fuse is?

Thanks for posting your first impressions.

Reference the exhaust fuse pull: I don't have my Z yet but anxiously waiting and I have read two or three posts where new owners have pulled fuse. Will someone please post a sound file with the fuse pulled so we can hear it at idle?

The fuse is in the passenger footwell. Pull the carpet back from the top of the well to expose the fuse box. The fuse you want is a 10A labeled "spare" at the lower right of the box. Move the fuse to the upper left the the spare fuse storage area and enjoy the music.

From my observation,no....paint actually looks pretty good after I finished washing it and applying a coat of NXT. Per my instructions the dealership didn't clean it up as I prefer to do that myself. The orange-peel thing has been an issue in the past-had some on my C5 and have seen it on some C6's as well.Maybe GM has worked that out....anyone else with a C6Z have any thoughts on this?

Thanks for posting up and congratulations on the new Z. Welcome to
All you current and imminent C6 Z06 owners ... humor us ... as we lesser beings have been accommodating to our FRC predecessors.
