Proper Lifting Proceedure

Based on the other post relating to the improper Z06 lifting proceedure, I would like to inquire about the PROPER proceedure & pickup points for my C6-Z.

I have a Challenger 2 post lift with adjustable height rubber pickup pads

Remove the pads from your two post and get you some jacking pucks for the frame. Drive the car up on boards to get some height. You can then position the arms so they lift on the pucks. Same procedure I use for my C5 Z.

I heard the pucks are different for the 06 Z06 because the frame is thicker.

Nope...not true. I put mine up on a lift at our club's last shop night. Used the same pucks I made for my C5Z06.

Bingo. My Jacking pucks were made for the C5 and fit on the C6. Now, I have to find a reason to jack it up.

You made them. The metal ones that are manufactured for the regular C6 will not lock into the C6Z06 transit slots because the frame metal is too thick to allow the puck to make that 1/4 turn once it's in the slot. Ask me how I know . . . My old C5 pucks use a magnet to hold them on, and the aluminum frame screws that up. Anyway, I'm back to using plain old hockey pucks again.

Ok...I see... The manufactured ones won't fit. Maybe I'm cheap, but Sports Authority sold me four pucks for $4.00. And they work pretty good. No probs.

Mine are from elite engineering and they fit. Don't forget, the height of the pucks may not be the same. These ARE aftermarket parts.

Thanks for the info, I did a quick Google Search and see lots of vendors selling "Vette lifing pucks" Does someone have a picture of the "pucks in use" to give me a visual?

Norm,
I bought the C6 pucks from Elite Engineering. They work fine on my C5 convertible, but they do not turn in my C6 Z06. It definitely seems like the C6 Z06 frame is thicker to me.

i bought some lifting pucks for a bmw that are supposed to fit the c6, but they dont snap in, not because the whole frame is thicker, but there are certain welds of metal that intrude near where the puck goes... so i dremmeled down the plastic on the pucks on the part that contacted the bits of intruding frame, and they snapped in. so, i think it is thicker, but only in parts.

So could I make the assumption that if I went to an Authorized Chevrolet Dealer I could buy the Pucks GM makes and/or sells specifically for use when servicing the C6Z

Actually the C6 Z06 does require a little different size Jacking Pad. We have designed on that will work with the larger aluminum rails of the new Z06. Give us a call
