R&T reviews the C6 Z06-Pics!!

Check it out...you can see the flaps in the exhaust-kinda cool.

I dont like how Chevy claimed a ET in 12.0 secs and a top speed of "only" 190 mph. Usually, they overhype and under- deliver, looks like it is the other way around this time

...and "only" 190mph topend... maybe the 12s quarter is as a result of taller final drive to get topend at the cost of acceleration.

C6 toped out at 189mph.
I think for z06 to top out close or over 200mph, you must do it in 5th gear and not 6th. I am sure it will be close to 200mph..

So when did we start believing everything written in R&T?? All of the other sources to date say over 190 mph and less than 12 secs for the quarter. I think R&T has fudged the words to make the new Z seem less dramatic.

To top 200mph in 5th would take either a taller 5th or a taller rear end... and with only 100hp extra on tap, the taller gear/gears would result in a slower accelleration all round.

Unless thats what the extra 500rpm is for.. to pull the last few extra mph with the same or lower gears...

it's not a review...it's a preview and says the same thing every other preview of the Z06 has said. None of these people driven the car yet.

I'm a bit disappointed that they're using the run flats on the Z too (so R&T claims).

Perhaps that's why they only claim 12s.

i'm pretty sure 5th in the C6 tops at 212 if you could get it there. they did 190 in it with the mirrors swept back. the Z should be damn close to 200mph. it'll hit it for sure after a couple weeks of the mod bug.

As soon as we see what the rear axle and tranny ratios are for the new C6 Z06, we will be able to see or predict what the top speed will be. If there like the current MN12 in the C5 Z06 there is no way the car will reach 200.

Amen to that.

If the first person who gets the diff and trans ratios will
send them to me.. PM or email.. I've already got a complete
sim of the C6Z06 otherwise complete. This means I can
have some valid performance predictions in about 5 mins.

PS: As I said in another thread.. if the ratios were the same
as the C6, and the diff was a 3.10:1, the performance would
be nigh identical to what is being touted. Except that the
0-60 with traction would be something like 3.3-3.4.

Top speed would be 198+

Qtr would be 11.7-11.8 at 125-127

Jim, I like the idea of a taller 3.1 rear eand... all the "big speed" 200mph+ cars run taller rear ends with closer lower gears - vs our C5 limiting short rear end with taller wider gears.

But then again I ain't buying one so what would I care.. hehe
