radar detector

Traded my '02 MY Z06 for an atomic orange '08. What a car.

Had the detector in the '02 hard wired into the fuse box, but can't find a switched connection on the '08. Read where some people are coming off the rear view mirror hot wire, but I would rather use something easier to get to.

Any help
thanks
Bruce

Re: radar detector

Not much easier than using "invisicord" and plugging into the mirror. I did that for a while with my V-1 until I got my remote readout and moved the connection to the heated seat connection in the fuse panel in the passenger footwell.
BTW, welcome to the Forum.

Re: radar detector

I just bought an 'O8 also and bought a mount that comes off the pass visor screw from Ecklers. I have the passport 8500. It sits right under that black/antenna on tha pass winshield. I bought escorts hard wire "smart wire".I then ran the pwr wire down the pillar to the glove box light. I continued the smart cord head to the side of the console and attached it there so I can mute it. There is no pwr on the drivers side and I couldn't find any pwr in the fuse box on the pass floor so I used the glove light. When I leave it on it must have run down protection because its off and goes on when I open the door.

Re: radar detector

I ran the escort Smart cord to the Cruise control Fuse. It is the only 2 amp fuse, and it gets hot when you start the car and goes off as soon as the engine is shut off.

Funny story...I tried the reverse light first...The escort worked as soon as I started the engine just as I wanted...I thought great that was easy...Go to pull into the garage, and as soon as I take the car out of reverse the escort shuts off...Duhhhhh. Back to the drawing board.
