I work for a Chevy dealership. There was a change to the TSB a little while ago. They went from 1 bottle of additive to 2. From what I have seen it is working. The first flush never works. It is normally fixed by the secound.
That's good to know. So far the first flush I had done three months ago has worked.
Does anyone know if the updated cltch packs are used in the 2008 or if anything else has been done differently for the 08's? GM usually takes 2-3 years to correct any issue!!
is this kind of problem only in 2006 Z's or anyone has encountered a similar problem with 2007/ 2008 Z ???
I am new to this site. I bought a 2008 Z06 4 weeks ago. On week two I noticed the sound you guys describe. I was within the first 500 miles and certainly did not beat it. I asked the dealer to look at it and he had one of the certified corvette guys from Kentucky at the dealership giving some inservice training. This guy said there was nothing wrong, and inplied that the car would "out grow" the now. He said that it will not affect performance, nor will it limit the life of the car. I have had some more spirited drives now that I am at 800 miles, and it seems to perform will. Although I am not a skilled "driver" and I am probably not a good judge. Does anyone think I should press this issue or just enjoy the car?

First, congratulations on the '08Z and welcome to
In general, I would say make sure that what they told you is documented in your service history ... and continue to monitor it ... as long as you're in warranty.
Some with C6Z's will offer their experience and advice on your specific question.
BTW ... I have a sister in Ames ... and I know she does NOT look forward to the winters there
Enjoy the ride! (while you can )

Thanks for the welcome.
Winter is looming and my z06 will have to hide (I will take her out on absolutely perfect days). I know I should start a new thread, but, anyone want to talk storage/winter prep with me? I have zero experience with leaving a car sit for a few months and don't want to damage it. Also, how about some prioritizing of performance mods that a novice can do over the winter?

first off, congratulations on your new Red Z06, that's my favorite color. i'm sure you will enjoy this car. thanks for your input and i hope all previous problems in 06/07 Z06's were solved in 2008 so you can enjoy your ride without any problems.
1. The rear sway bar dropped down on the pasenger side after the top u-clamp bolt shot out. (Literally)
2. The car became a driver side puller Only, with plenty of noise as well!
All the work was done under warranty but it took 3 trips and a total of 3 weeks at the dealer and they managed to put 800 plus miles as the Svc Manager said. "TESTing" tol insure the problems were resolved.
So Far So Good! Should I request a warranty extension to compensate me tor abusing my car for 800 + miles?
800 miles is inexcusable and indicative of problems at the service manager level or dealership level.
Well ... this is "free" input, but if the dealer logged 800 miles on my car I would be talking to the dealership owner ... and possibly a letter to GM if I chose to pursue censure for the dealership.
I know the owners and quite a few of the sales and service staff. They have a 1st class operation and have been in this area for years. With the good people there I have been reluctant to drop the hammer.
The sales manager is new and I'm not sure exactly how to bring this to their attention?
YOu did confirm what my 1st reaction was and I'm still thinking on it.
Hi I just purchased a 2006 Z06 in the uk which is a USA version rather than the European version. Car has 5900miles on the clock and I got my first chatter today. If ignored will it cause more damage in the long run? Noticed previous post that adding two lots of additive instead of one helps- Any advise thanks

Just get the fluid changed (flushed) and make sure the additive goes in. This will likely solve the problem. If it comes back after a month or so, try adding more additive or look to see if there is a TSB out on it. I know there is a TSB for the C5 which involves new kit.

Diff chatter seems to be common to all the C6s, not just the C6 Z06s. I have had numerous customers who have switched from GM fluids to AMSOIL fluids report that their chatter went away.
For the C5 diff (and my Cadillac CTS-V for that matter), I have never used the slip lock additive and my diff has never chattered. Very few of my C5 customers use the slip lock additive as the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75w90 already has additive in it. But, with GM recommending two bottles of additive, I have been recommending one bottle for C6/C6 Z06 owners switching to AMSOIL.
Hi Just tried the amsoil with 1x 4oz amsoil ltd slip on my Z06. Did 16 figures of eight to be sure, then took for 15 mile run. Noise went, washed car pulled off drived and it chatter again!. Does this take a while to work in or should i add more ltd slip additive?
Tazman,
Sorry to hear your chatter is still present. My recommendation would be to add another bottle of slip lock additive, then do several more figure eights to work the fluid into the clutch packs.
