Since no one in the public really knows what the configuration is yet for the new Z06, I doubt if any real answer can be given.
If I were to guess about the configuration, I would guess that the top assembly is similar to the current Z06. You can remove (unbolt) the complete top panel assembly and under that it looks just like what you might think a targa hatch back model would look like. There is no metal front to back support. There is an "arch" from driver side to the passenger side. From what I have seen and been told it is rather straight forward to remove. Most teams that prepare race cars take the top off in order to install full cages. I believe there are pictures on the web site some where showing a top off of a C5. I doubt it is something that you would want to drive with removed since it looks like an unfinished model.
However, I can imagine that it would be very simple for an after market top to be made if you wanted to turn it into a targa top.
