OK, the owner's manual says you have to put it in Reverse to park it and turn the car all the way off. But the "Getting to know your 2006 Corvette" quick reference booklet that came with the car says Reverse or First gear.

My 2005 C6 would complain if I didn't put it in reverse when exiting. The Z06 does not do that and I have used 1st gear. But I find myself still using reverse from time to time from habit.
Just called Chevy customer service... they are telling me Reverse. I suspect they are basing that off what's printed in the 06 manual (the thicker book) as it says "reverse". But they couldn't explain to me why the "Getting to know your 2006 Corvette" quick reference booklet says "Reverse or First".
They said they would call a local dealer (near me) to find out, but I suspect the local dealer will just say "reverse" as they will base it off the 05 C6.
For those of you that have parked it in 2nd or other, what's the longest you left it parked like that and did you notice it have a hard time turning over when you started it?
So far, the longest I've had it parked in 1st was about 18 hours, but no issues starting it back up.
Just trying to confirm... last thing I need it to have a dead battery on a car that I'm having WAY too much fun driving and breaking in!
Update... they just called me back... they said a local dealer (a very big 'Vette dealer in the area)... they said "defnitely reverse" and that they've had some 06's (not Z06) towed back in because the owners left them out of R and didn't know why the car died.
So there's definitely a conflict in the printed documentation.

I'd do another test but I already sold the car to Halltech.. Damn I miss it now... and my red one's so far over the horizon.. ......

Anyone know for sure?
bullshit. I NEVER parked it in reverse.
(edit) just noticed you said NOT Z06's. Maybe the non-Z06's have the requirement.... but the Z06's don't. In my experience, like Norman said.... park in any gear you want.
OK, so now I'm hearing from you guys that it doesn't matter what gear the Z is in... it'll shut off completely when turned off. That's good. I'd have to leave it in gear and have an "accident" somewhere.
Why can't Chevy, their documentation, and the dealers get their info right? Why doesn't GM put out a TSB to all dealers indicating the proper procedure for parking and shutting off (completely) a 2006 Z06?
