Stop crying about the price

Really guys, enough already. I know that most are not complaining, but for the ones that are; Please remember that some people would like a better car that cost more. GM answered and gave us a car that is much better. Better means more money. You want the same car you had for 50,000. You can still get it for 5,000 less. THE BASE C6. Same 400hp, steel frame, ect. Infact it most areas its better. Its maybe a little slower by a tenth. Big deal.

Now take the C5 Z06/Base C6, add Alum frame, Carbon Fiber, Dry Sump, 427 with Ti internals, bigger brakes, bigger wheels and tires, and all the other little stuff and a MSRP of 75,000 is a deal. If 75 large is too much then stick with your steel framed/400 hp small tire car. Whether a C5 Z or a base C6 your choice.

Personally I would pay 85,000 for Ceramic brakes, Lexan rear hatch, Ti exhaust, racing seats and Nav delete and roll cage. That car would still be less than a base 911, or a Viper.

GM(if your listening) please disregard the complainers. We realize that this car is of a different league than the old Z. This car will attract the buyers of the 75-100,00 market. I'm sure that you will start to get some Porsche/ Viper customers now. The new Z06 product is worth every penny. The people who complain most likely could not have afforded a Viper or Porsche.

Please just keep doing what your doing.

I'm on the list, with my Twin Turbo Porsche getting ready to go BYE BYE!

Randy

I think Randy is a shill for GM. If not, I don't know where his head is. In the 75-100 bracket, today, you essentially have a bunch of luxo-sport sedans and the Viper. You can see how well the Viper is selling. They all have outstanding performance, but do not give the Z06's type of gutteral feel. The uniqueness of the Z06 was its performance envelope and it affordability to the die hard performance nuts. The new Z06 is completely out of that mode. It is a Porsche wantabe and maybe even succeeds, but at what price. The very people that supported GM and gave the Z06 its run are the ones they are going to eliminate for ownership. Maybe 75 does not give you pain, but I can guarantee you that there are a ton of present Z06 owners that simply cannot afford that. Don't forget a 75 base means, at least, an 80 out the door with tax. My guess is we are talking 82-85 out the door on most sales not counting any ADP.

I am impressed by the some of the new improvements, but with the exception of wheel and tires, I don't need titanium rods or carbon fiber trim. The weight savings is minimal and the cost increase is maximum. Their value to the performance of the car would be miniscule. As a number of people on this website have already said, in the end, it still just a Chevy.

We don't even know the price yet..

Rather than argue one way or the other ...

How about we wait and see..

In the end we can all make our own decisions if we want to buy one..

Could be mid sixties...could be mid seventies..

Got to leave something for anticipation of the near future...

We saw the car....we read about it technologies .....

Now lets wait patiently to hear the price...

In the end the market decides anyway...

Well, I'm not a shill for GM. Just represent some people that have no problem paying for a car that is worth the money. Some people don't want a car that is so common. Some of the Evo's and Suburu's are really good buys for the bang for buck. Does that mean I should get 5 Evo's in place of a 150,000 Porsche. No. Some of us that can afford uniqness are willing to pay. Maybe GM did put the Z06 out of some people financial reach, however they gave the same car in the base vette. I think that they opened up and now have product to cover more customers. The fact that the Z was so common was a complaint that led many people to buy Porsches and Vipers.

You can't have the car of your dreams and not pay.

It is NOT worth over 70k! And i doubt it will be over 70k.
If it is, many that would of buy it at 60-65k, will not.

I am telling yall, the price will range between 59,999-68K depending on options. but, like everyone said, just wait and see!!!

I'll be getting mine, regardless of the price. I am sold on the Corvette, history, present and future. This is one REMARKABLE car.

Randy, I don't know if anyone's been "crying", like you put it.

Let's wait and see what it's priced at. Also, regardless of MSRP, the market will decide it's worth.

Price

Guys, just a little history about prices. ZR-1 option in 1990 doubled the price of the corvette (approx 31k to 62k). The first year was the largest number sold with smaller sales for 91 and 92. The decision to phase out the ZR-1 was make in 1992. 448 ZR-1's sold each year for 93, 94 and 95.
New C6 Z06 appears to be approx 50% increase in price to the base C6. I think the Z06 will be a winner and be part of the corvette for a long time because the price is reasonable unlike the ZR-1. I had a 91 ZR-1.

I agree with RandyN. GM knows just what they are doing and that is separating this new Z into a class of its own. This car isnt supposed to be owned by the masses; like most of us. Its designed to be owned by those that can afford and appreciate what this car is all about and that is technology.
To be real honest this car is worth much more than what its gonna cost.

I gotta say though, I really won't be looking forward to bringing an 80K car into the chevy dealer to be treated like I own a cavalier. at least the higher end companies treat you accordingly.

Oooohhhh - the first official call to the Corvette becoming a "snob" car.

Watch the same folks ball like babies as it devalues like a sink hole

It won't matter to GM that you spend $80K or $120K. They will still treat you as if you bought a $10K Chevy Aveo - is that what they're worth? Oh, well, you get my point.

I believe that if you spend that kind of money you should qualify for:

-better service
-a smarter service department (they should know your car well)
-a cleaner service department (they should not get your interior dirty)
-nice perks (annual free car wash [at least!] or similar kind gesture)
-at least a decent rental car - V6 or above - should you have to leave your car for service

Who the hell am I fooling!! It's GM, they won't do that!

Alex

You think that's bad. Try taking an 80k car to a Dodge dealership.
