Thing about GM - part two -

I can't stop thinking about the C6 Z06 (more than GM). It becomes clearer every day to me that Chevrolet did their homework on this car.
Among other things, I keep wondering if, that after moving the battery to the rear, Chevrolet decided to add carbon fiber fenders and not a CF hood to maintain a near 50/50 weight balance. Many owners of C5s added CF hoods on their own. That is a much easier way to remove weight than adding CF fenders would be. So, if a person wanted to go lighter on the front end, it’s a fairly simple bolt on.
Same thing kind of thing on the stainless mufflers, I would think an owner could save some weight there if needing to lighten the rear.
I could be way off on this, but so many things make me think someone from the C6 Z06 team was really taking good notes from the C6R team. The new Z06 sure looks like a supercar to me.

Dave Hill said they didn't use a Titanium exhaust system on the new Z06 because the vendor would not/could not give them the price breaks they needed. He said this at a local Corvette event. (I wonder if 3" titanium tubing is a lot more expensive than 2.5" titanium tube.)

Yea, I read about the price being a problem. I guess the larger tubing could be more expensive. Could be that titanium in general has gone up. It just seemed like there might be even more to the story. I don't know.

Maybe Corsa will do a Ti exhaust like their C5 system for the C6

Typical GM - penny wise but pound foolish.
