Just got my 06 Z06 tuned and had the new Callaway Honker intake installed. Saw an increase of 48HP at the wheels at an increase of 45 TQ, pretty happy w/the results for sure.

Callaway Honker Intake
Tuning by MTI Racing Atlanta
Most Z's I've seen have baselined around 440 HP with the hood up, definitly lose a little in real world conditions, hood down, 200 degree coolant temp, no fans blowing on the engine etc.
Baseline for me yesterday was 441HP and 416 TQ with the hood open, 418HP and 394 TQ with the hood closed.
After the tune and honker, hood closed, we got 466HP and 437 TQ, nice increase and definite spike in the "sotp" gauge
Do any of these dyno shops have fans to simulate 60mph or so? I had the impression that a CAI wouldn't do much at speed because the air doesn't have enough time to heat up much.

Got no horse in this race, just posting the data and what the tuner (MTI Racing Atlanta) has proof of.
In a nutshell, their data illustrates the differences in airflow and how it effects ouput. With the motor hot and with the hood closed there is significant loss of power as much as 18 RWHP.
Several runs on my 06 Z spoke to that point as stated in the earlier post.
The new Callaway Honker intake system eliminates the problem of such a loss.
Max HP following the tune and the honker was 466.2 with the hood closed and 467.1 with the hood open. The difference in the TQ numbers was also minimal, 437.7 hood down, 437.9 hood up.
The numbers before the tune and honker, baseline dynos on the stock vehicle were dramatically different, much better numbers with the hood open, letting all that engine heat out and not trapped inside the compartment. The dyno is a Dynojet 248 chassis dyno. MTI did the dyno testing on the new Honker for Callaway.

I REFUSE to believe that the car loses that much power with the hood closed.
Put it in a wind tunnel on a dyno then tell me what it reads.
I dunno... the ECM or PCM or whatever they're called now could be pulling lots of timing when IAT sensor heats up. Figure that in with the typical 1%-2% HP loss for every 7 degrees increase in air temp and big losses are possible.
Set the cruise control at 70 and got no surge whatsoever. Tested at 55, 60 and 65 as well for a minute or so and it was smooth sailing. Have no evidence at all that the Honker is responsible or just the fact that it was tuned well.
