Not that this is a complaint in any way shape or form, but I was driving along and I hauled ass around some traffic, then when I took my foot off the gas pedal and I heard what sounded like thunder. That's the first time I noticed it, just wondering what that is, technically speaking.
Lightning is light waves, usually there is a small delay before you hear the sound of thunder as sound travels slower than light. No problem, its something you just have to get used to.
All kidding aside, I've never heard anything like that.

When over 3500 rpms and the 2 exhaust valves are open, there is a rumble when coming down from higher rpms and the clutch is still engaged. Sounds Great!

At ease!!! This sound is perfectly normal. Occurs in C6Zs at high RPM when the exhaust valves are open and you let off the gas.
It's that bad-ass 427 burbling and farting through the exhaust.
The sound of power under the hood, my good man.
I noticed that too. Especially when you lay on the throttle and release it, kinda like back pressure in the exhaust system percolating down the pipes. People call it Chevy Thunder!

Maybe it's a coincidence but it seems like it happens more with the AC on. Whatever it is, it's cool and I love it. I wonder if it sounds as cool from outside the car.
Most noticable when deceleratiing and you don't come all the way off the throttle. 'Kinda like the sound the IRL cars make entering a corner, with an occasional "bang" here and there! Makes one wonder what it would sound like with straight pipes.
If you pull your exhaust fuse or install a bypass switch then you will really hear it when decelerating! Something between thunder or an earthquake. About a month ago, I was following a C5 and he had quick blue flames coming out of his exhaust between gears and on deceleration. Not sure if it was a good thing or not, but it looked kind of cool!
