Universal Remote

Anyone have any trouble getting the on board Universal Remote programmed? I have tried 40/50 times, including doing the reset/programming on my actual opener, all according to directions both in the z06 owner's guide and the garage door opener instructions, and still it won't work. Maybe I should ask has anyone got it to work? Any tricks?

thanks mike

I'm lazy. I had homelink in my 05 and my 06 and hadn't programmed either. Still have that bulky controller hanging from the visor. Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to get on it. LOL

sometimes it has to do with your door opener... the new ones have a rolling code..

read the manual on the garage door opener not the homelink.. sometimes it will give you a hint...

Mike, what kind of garage door opener do you have?

Hey mike675,
It was a little tricky for me, too. Tried to program it one night and couldn't get it to work. Next morning, I realized the button-pushing sequence was ambiguous and tried it again. this time it worked and I've had no problems for a couple of weeks. My error was in releasing the second button and holding only the one I was programming whilst sending the signal. Read the owners manual again s-l-o-w-l-y and memorize the steps before trying again.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

wv and jim-I have a Quantum opener. It is a rolling code, but I had already tried programming it using the openers instructions, i.e. push program button, return to car a push URC button once while programming light on door opener is on. Still won't program and work.

top cog--re-read the instructions v-e-r-y slowly and followed them to a T. also tried the canadian programming (time out) and that didn't work either. I can't find anywhere where it says hold one button down after releasing the other, but I tried that also, it didn't work either.

Don't know what to do next.

thanks for your help.

Go here:

http://www.homelink.com/brands/choose.tml

Then you can see if your GDO is compatible.

It might not be, it seems.

Jim--thanks--I went into the homelink site and found my opener, Wayne Dalton-Quantum. It is compatible with homelink, so I guess I will call tech support at Dalton and GM to figure out why it won't work. I tried again tonight and still no luck. thanks again.

With rolling codes, I've always had to reset the "in car" unit, program the "in car" unit using the instructions provided, then.....

actually take a ladder, and access the button on the garage door opener mechanism itself that allows "button programming", and go through the steps on the mechanism as though you were programming a standard remote.

Best done as a two person job.

Are you saying you've already attempted this?

Me too. It won't work. Tried a hundred times... Apparently the "new" model is not homelink and doesn't work.
