Why is that. Should we read anything into that re: plant being backed up or future orders taking longer or is it typical to have an off week every once and a while?

JRZ
What this means is that the plant has accepted enough orders in advance to cover the production schedule.
This is just a schedule adjustment to bring the ZO6 order bank in line with the C6.
XLR and XLR-V have no allocation this week either, so it's nothing to be concerned about.
There was an off week at the end of August too.
Think of it this way - if the wheel constraint is looking like it is going to get better in another week or two, it is better to thin down the bank now, and then be able to go out with a higher level when orders are accepted again.
What will the outlook letter tell a dealer? For instance, if the dealership I'm buying the car from gets an allocation for the end of November, does that mean that they are free to send GM a ZO6 order right away?
Please tell me yes And does that mean that if GM accepts the order for say 11/29/05, when, realistically, can I expect my car?

If they have one for November, it means that they will get to place an order in November, with a 3-4 week lead from production - so look for a 12/10-1/3 build week.
I am not clear on which event code coincides with a dealer's allocation?
Which event number (1100,2000,3000,etc.) occur's on the week of the dealer's allocation for a particular month?
IOW does the dealer have to wait to enter the order into the system, or can he do that months ahead of his allocation week?
Does a dealer even need an allocation to put an order in the system?
I know dealer's get a letter projecting the build week's that they have allocations for, but what event happens for a vehicle on that week.
Appreciate any clarification.

No, he can enter an order at any time, stock orders if not placed in 90 days get cancelled, sold orders remain in the system until placed or the end of the model year, which ever comes first.

Thursday, the dealer gets his allocations and constraints. The dealer has to make sure that he has buildable orders within allocation and constraints. Additionally he has to enter a desired quantity of units. (this only makes a difference with models other than Corvette) If the dealer has an allocation, and a constraint for polished wheels, and the first order does not have polished wheels, the wheels go back up to the national level and get re-distributed to another dealer based on 'available days supply'. On Monday nights, the orders go from 1100 to 2000. Tuesdays are the last day to modify orders and make last changes. Tuesday night orders go to 2500 and then Thursday they go to 3000. And the process starts all over again.
Jdogg,
Thx for the very clear explanation of the relationship of the event codes to dealer allocation. I think you left no room for anyone to have a misconception. I very much appreciate your detailed response. I hope you are getting to spend some quality time with your new ride.
