Weight a Minute C6 Z Watchers !!

Has any one looked at the weight detail offered (in the recent M/T article)? I don't know if there was text with the article, but I just can't buy the published weight (of 3130, which is just too heavy, even with all the new goodies).

Here is my logic:
C5 Z weight = 3118 lbs
Pic says C6 Z fastback body 22 lbs heavier than C5Z=3130 lbs
Pic w/C6 weight add/deletes shows net difference = -107.9 lbs
This yields final weight of 3022.1 lbs

I bet they would find 22 lbs more to get out so they could market the car as "under 3000 pounds".

Any thoughts about the weight??

Rick told us they still have held back some news. I bet it is $59.9K base price and/or sub 3000 lbs and/or elec auto/man 6 sp.

PS: What will we all do next year when we don't have this to wait for, and long for, anymore? Do we have a projected release date yet for the fuel cell powered C7 Z?

My thoughts are this car is stupid........... The only reason anyone should buy it is because they like the body style. It Don't Takes what for a Z to get to 440rwhp? some heads and a conservative cam with headers. Thats what i would do. because If im gonna spend 75K. Its not gonna be on a corvette i can tell you that much. You can get a 03 srt-10 for 60K easy right now That would be the route i would go if i was in the market for a new car

I haven't seen the article yet, but wonder if the adds and subtracts are based off the C6 not the C5 Z06?

It was based off the C6 Coupe...

But it is definitely disappointing to see a 3100 lb car, when we were all led to believe that it would be sub 3000 lbs.

I seriously disagree that we were all led to believe anything of the sort.

Everything, and I mean everything, you read on here is just an internet rumor until it's actually announced by GM. Much of it is going to be way off the mark, even when it's posted by people claming to have "inside information" and "reliable sources". I work in a different industry but one in which people pay attention to our future products. And let me tell you, many people post very authoritative sounding things to web forums when in fact they have no idea whatsoever what they're talking about.

I'm not saying all the rumors on here are wrong. Some of them might well be the truth, or close to it. Maybe it really will be <3000 lbs. But it's all just rumors at this point!

Besides, my inside sources inform me that GM is actually going to outsource production of the new Z out to Hyundai and it will look like a slightly modified Tiburon. If I get a few other people to post this too, you can then consider yourself led to believe the Vette will look like a Tiberon and be pleasantly surprised when it doesn't :-)
