hey, i was in phoenixville PA back in march picking my old Z that got eqipped with the T1 suspention package by phenix performance.....and they were involved in the preliminary testing of the new C6Z and they said that there is absolually no way that the new C6z will be elgible for the T1 class. They do not know where it is going to be placed yet. They said it was entirely to fast for T1, even with the SRT-10 being brought into T1. but once again, this was in march, so it could be a little outdated. I would have no doubt tho that the new Z will be in a different class, being as it is already as light as the lightened T1 C5Z with bigger brakes and much more power. it wouldnt be fair to viper owners

Old News. The rule proposal is to ban it in T1 for 2006. Rules won't be finalized until 1 /2006, however.

It may be allowed for 2007 and will be reconsidered in late 2006 if banned for the 2006 season.

The C6 Z06 is 144#'s heavier than a C5 Z06.

Weight is irrelevant as all cars must weigh a minimum 0f 3280#'s

I thought the 2004 z06 curb weight was 3118lbs...

...and the advertisement in my C&D says the C6 Z06 weighs 3132lbs..

Did I miss something or where did the other 130lbs go?

The '02-'04's are heavier than the '01.

My sources tell me the C6 Z06 weighs 3154#'s wiith 1/8 tank.

My '01 weighs 3010#'s with 1/8 tank.

Dry sump, huge brakes, bigger rolling stock...

I had heard that because of the Aluminum frame it would not be allowed.

I heard that also. BTW, don't the C6R's have steel frames?

The '02 - '04's are heavier than the '01 Z06's due to so called upgrades and addition of standard options such as:

- HUD
- Thicker windshield glass for HUD
- Thicker side & back glass
- Additional Insulation
- Main CATS were more tightly packed, denser and heavier
- side impact protection upgrade.
- steel rather than plastic composite end links
- intank rather than external tank fuel pump
- Steel vs. Aluminum Tranny shifter forks
- increased push rod length
- .6mm longer valve stems
- larger valve springs (yellow)

Although the '02-'04 Z06's lost weight in these areas:
- No pup CATS
- smaller cam base circle
- Hollow intake and hollow Na filled exhaust valves

It was not enough to offset the weight gains in the other areas.

For the C6 Z06 despite using light weight:
- CF Front fenders & wheel house
- Magnesium front subframe/engine cradle
- Aluminum Frame
- Magnesium roof halo
- Titanium connecting rods
- Keyless entry (no mechanicl linkage in doors)
- smaller steering wheel

It gained weight due to the following:
- Heavy rear glass
- larger brake calipers
- larger brake rotors
- larger wheels
- larger tires
- EMT tires
- Tire pressure
- dry sump reservoir
- increased oil capacity
- Strengthened Tranny internals
- Strengthened Diff Internals
- strengthened rear half shafts
- larger clutch
- Engine Oil Cooler
- Tranny Oil Cooler
- Diff Oil Cooler
- SS CAT back Exhaust vs. Titanium

Further weight can be added with NEW options of 2LZ
- heated seats
- Nav system
- Home Link Transmitter
- CD player
- Telescoping steering column
- Side Impact bags
- Luggage shade & net

One issue here is that the C6Z is dressed for the party but nowhere to go.

Too fast to drag race without an NHRA 6 point roll bar. No T1 class. Only a modified autocross class where it can end up against seriously modified autocross cars. No trailer hitch to carry track tires.

Well, 3.7sec 0-60 will get to the supermarket faster!!!
