um, Torque management? WTF?! Does anyone here know what this is?
Tom already mentioned it a bit but he can be a little too technical for us sometimes.
Basically it is programmed into the ecm to help eliminate large stresses on the drivetrain and engine. It comes down to a way that the manufacturer can save money on warranty repairs. :o:
Bottom line is, it can reduce the overall performance of the car.

Yeah worse in lower gears. It was a pain on my car in second and third, and Tom took it out for me. Man it pulls hard now.

I was unaware that the TM can be totally turned off. It was my understanding that you have to increase the values (but not more than some max number) in order to effectively turn it off.
Was this (increase the values) done to yours or is there a place where it can be just disabled? I have EFI Tuner SW and would love to turn this off if possible.
Any info appreciated!!
Does anyone know how the new SAE hp ratings compare to the older NET ratings? it was my understanding that the C6Z would be one of the first cars to be rated with this new hp standard. However, I have never seen how it is different than the scheme previously in use.
Regarding the 443 rwhp rating, what drive line loss should be used to estimate the crank hp? I thought that I had seen a 13% figure used extensively here for the C5Z. Using this value, 443 translates into 509, just above the rated 505.
Thirteen percent is the figure I was told by several several tuners and a GM engineer in BG (for my C5 Z) - so I believe it is a pretty valid number. The LS7 went through a very stringent SAE power assessment process, so I think it is pretty realistic to calculate 509 h/p from 443 rearwheel.
My understanding is that the LS7 PCM is math based, not table based, so I would imagine it's going to be a while to reverse engineer this puppy.

You maybe correct on the higher value. I seem to remember the 340 number in that table, and I am not sure how Tom left it. Send FRCTom a pm he can tell you what he did or what number was used. I just know it works better now then it did before the tune.
This thread got me so pumped up that I had to stop reading half way through and wipe the tears from my eyes. I am not sure how much more I can take in regards to info on the new Z. I hope the ONE/1 allocation small/local dealer I got my Z from comes through for me sometime soon !!!!
I do not even have the car yet and I am buying DSOM GM interior parts and I want these new headers. I have a feeling my wife will be filing for divorice by the end of this year.... :o:
So is the consensus then that when the LS7 loosens up, it will lose power? Hand built motors are usually strongest when new.
BTW, I am in Somers, about 5 minutes from Yorktown. Small world.
Yes, very small world and you are even closer to the center of it than you realize.
The LS7 engine will gain power as it loosens up, it may be hand assembled, but it is not hand built in the sense of a race engine with "loose" clearances. It is still a production based engine with OEM manufacturers tolorances.
I'll admit that I haven't been keeping up tooooo much on the C6 Z06, but I do have a question. I read in one of the Corvette magazines (maybe Corvette Enthusiast) that the 3" exhuast has automatically opening exhaust cutouts. Is this right? Does this mean that we won't see any gains on a dyno unless the only upgrade is headers (on the exhaust side, of course). Also, from what I understand, GM didn't leave much on the table with the heads. Aren't they already CNC ported-n-polished and at 11.0:1 compression? And the engines are hand assembled, right? My car responded very well to H/C, intake, full exhaust. How will this one do?
