I was reading the information on ULTIMA wax products. They really went after Zaino. I have always used Zaino and the Ultima folks are right---it is labor intensive. Has anyone used Ultima? What did you think? I am thinking about trying it. I am getting too long in the tooth to spend 4 hours on the Beast.
Thanks for the input.
Jack

I checked out the Ultima site, and after reading inaccurate statements there I will not waste my time and money with it. Adam's and Zaino work for me, and both are far from labor intensive.

Zaino has some new products and a new accelerator to cure multiple coats if you prefer. W/ any wax the prep is everything clay, degrease, scratches. Zaino now has an all in one 1st step then z2 or z5 everything else is optional and increases the results. It doesnt take 4 hrs especially if your paint is in good shape or previously prepped. And it lasts not like some of the others which look good for 3 wks because of the petroleum based make-up. Adams and Zaino are exellent choices .The time comes in the 1st time w/ prep, after that it's a walk in the park if you have the porter cable D/A w/ good pads.
My buddy never touches his Zaino stuff because it takes him 4 hrs, like you said. I recommend you try Pinnacle or Meguiar's. Good luck.
I'm not gonna get into this "which wax is better" controversy, but I have no idea what this 4 hours nonsense is about (regarding Zaino).
A couple of weeks I had to clean up the C5 which had been in the shop for several months. It must have had an inch and a half of dust and crap on it.
After washing it, it took me less than an hour to have it shining like new with Zaino. When I bought the C6, it took me about and hour or less to have it looking like a million bucks.
I have no idea which detailing stuff is better but this crap about Zaino taking a long time to use is just
(Alex, my comments are not directed toward you and I normally stay away from the detailing battles but I've just heard this 'long time' nonsense too much)

Mike
I know you're not directing it at me. I've never used Zaino, but these are the words my friend used. It takes him that long to prep and Zaino his car. I don't know any details.
I second Mikes words. To apply Zaino to my car is easier and take less time than regular of the shelf wax. Nothing to be said that it looks like a million dollars.
With any product you should be doing the same prep, that is if you want outstanding results.
The 3 coats of zaino are the easy part of my details. The washing, claying and polishing is what takes all the time.
Get your 3x of Z2/5pro on and then use Z8 and or Clear Seal to maintain for an easy 6 months. I went 8 months on my wifes BMW with 3x of Z5pro and CS. From 6-8 months I used Z8 three times and at over 8 months I finally put CS/Z8 on the car. Still looked very good, but I finally polished the car the other day. It got 3x of Z5pro again and will do CS/Z8 at the end of this week.
Since I asked the original question (and made the original comment regarding time), I need to clearify. It does take a long time to put on the original application---if you do it per directions. First you wash the car, then you clay bar the car, then you wash again, you apply Z2, you apply Z6, you apply Z5 and a final Z6. I am 60, and maybe that is why it takes me about 3-4 hours. After you do that you can maintain with Wash, Z5 and Z6.
The purpose of my orignal post was to see if anyone had used or knew anything about the Ultima product. I was just wondering. I have used Zaino for over 5 years and am quite happy with it. However, in the advertisement I read, the Ultima folks were really hitting on Zaino. Again, just wondering.
Jack,
If you're looking at switching from Zaino to something, switch to Adams. Thats what I use on mine and I will never use anything else.
The original application is similiar to Zaino, but once the original, i.e., first time application which includes the wash, claybar, wash......it gets easier. Hey buddy, if you want, you can drop the Beast off at my house and I''l deetail it for you.
Jim

I agree. Just one correction...ZAINO is also petroleum based. If u read the label it says "contains petroleum distilates."
