I really want to get a 1967 corvette stingray. Its my dream car. Id rather rebuild it and stuff. Cost too much it its restored. But I dont know if I should do this after college and keep my civic as my daily driver or just get a 03-04 used z06 after college. I'll graduate in 2 yrs and should easily be making 40-50k to start. I would love to do the 67 stingray but i think it will cost too much and be more risky coming outta of college and getting that.
but if anyone knows of any for cheap or any info on the 67 vettes at all please let me know.
thanks everyone
future z06 owner here

67s are nice but im not a big fan of the stinger hood. i like the big block hood on the 65 and 66s.
there are plenty of low priced 67 small block coupes that need plenty of TLC. even restored 67 small block coupes arent all that marked up...but alas the dreaded 67 big block roadster is expensive as hell!
good luck on your search. if you have the extra cash to purchase a project car and keep your DD, then i say go for it!
In my experience, unless you're doing all the work yourself and paying yourself $1/hr, it's cheaper to get one all restored that someone is selling for a loss than doing it yourself. A complete frame off can cost 45k or so. If you're not looking for something that nice, then maybe you can find something cheaper, but if it's a matching #'s 427/435 you want, it's going to be expensive.
Well...The thing is, I was looking thru my parents old photos. I found pics from a car show they went to the year I was born. And I saw the picture of a bright red 67 corvette stingray. It musta had a blower or something, all chrome engine and stainless steel aftermarket side exhausts, chrome rims. It just was amazing. I kinda want to restore it to make it look like that. Maybe I will wait till when I get a little older, closer to retirement(I might get a gov job and get to retire early).
I'll just try for the 03-04 z06 after college.
also, if all goes as plan I will marry my gf and her dad has a 76 corvette stingray that will more than likely be our wedding gift. Anyone know anything about these corvettes? It in great condition. I might just wanna upgrade brake, suspension and get some more ponies outta the engine. How much hp/torque they normally have, or just anything about these?
I know I have some long treads but I love corvettes and you guys are more experts than I am.
Thank you for all your time.

PSU,
I just have to chime in here. Zoomin has some good ideas, but this advice, quoted above, is totally off the wall, since there is noone in existence that fulfills that description. I know, because I've searched high and low and found zilch.
Had a '65, wanted a '67, got a '02...they're all GOOD!

if it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is, or 'til you are.

psu,
take it from someone who has gone thru the wars. buying and restoring a '67 (i assume you are talking about numbers matching, ncrs standards) will require you to have a VERY high paying job right out of college. also sounds like you will be newly married. my recommendation is not to do it. if you want a '67, and can find one, just do a cosmetic and don't worry about a ncrs top flight. drive the car and enjoy it. i do believe if you wait a long time to purchase the car, it will just keep getting more and more expensive. or, the car you finally get will be junk. if you do what i did, you will seldom drive the car--afraid to break it--what is the fun in that. i am not mechanically inclined and it took me from 1981 to 1991 to get it ready to show. the cost was north of $100000. now i look at it and i still love the car, but as stated above it is hard to drive (when i do). it sits beside a qs Z06 which is a blast to drive and gives me almost as much pleasure to look at. if you can find a reasonably priced '67, in good condition and mostly original (and you can aford it) buy it. take care of it and do basic cosmetc restoration over time as your budget allows. but most of all, drive and enjoy it. just my 2 cents worth.

ya...i dont think I can afford the 67, maybe something to do if I retire with a lot of money. I'll shot for a z06 instead. I'll have the 76 vette too(hopefully) to play with. Thanks for all your info guys.
You are in the perfect state. Wait till August and go to Corvettes at Carlisle and see the better part of 82 acres worth of Corvettes. About a fourth of the field is reserved for individual owners selling their used Corvettes directly. The was a variety of high and lower (notice I did not say 'low' prices, they are Corvettes after all) priced cars including the years you are interested in. Spend the time between now and then getting smart on what the state of the market is for the mid sities stingray. Learn what the problem areas are for these car years so you can avoid those problems. The are alot of parts available, brand new and used. Another entire portion of this event is people selling car parts the C2,C3 and C4 seem to be very available. :z06:

Let's see.........make mine pale yellow with black stripes down the stinger hood, factory side pipes and a 427/435 of course and keep it under $100K! That or a '70 Hemi 'Cuda would work quite well for me. Bill
The pictures don't do it justice. I saw it in person after the Hooters get together in Anaheim and it was sweet! 11SM, McRat and Navy Phrog saw it also. A little over your price range, but what the hey!

OH MAN Ray.........thats the one for me. Is it a hard top/ soft top/ no top option car? Anyone have an extra 10K for a good cause? I do have a house that I could refinance. I bet this car will grow in value faster than those 435 hp can go! Thanks for the link, I saved it. Bill
Bill, it has two tops. Looks like a black hard top and a black soft top. A roadster with a hard and soft top is the best of both worlds. The security of a coupe, but the looks of a roadster. I think the roadster with a hard top looks better than a coupe from the side. 110k is Mike's asking price, I'm sure he is willing to negotiate. Tell him you are a friend of mine (Joe, owner of The Beast from SB), and talk to Mike Canfield, he is Corvette Mike's head sales guy. Mike Vietro is the owner, aka as Corvette Mike.
This one will appreciate like you can not imagine. I looked at the exterior and peeked in the inside, and I can tell you that this car is fine! They also had a NOM 67 427/435 black/black with red stinger that was supposed to run really strong. I haven't seen it on the website. It was not in as nice a condition as this one, but still was very nice with a nice interior.
