94/96 Mustang Cobra vs 99/00 Trans Am Ram Air

Guys just wondering what are your opinions are on these cars....Come March the lease for our Accord is over so we will need a new car, i'll be trying to coax my parents into getting me one of these.....

1994 Mustang Cobra
1996 Mustang Cobra
1999 Trans Am Ram Air (WS6)
2000 Trans Am Ram Air (WS6)

The prices range from 15,000-22,000 top to bottom....I really like all body styles, but am mainly concerned about which is the best value, QUALITY, and power......

Pretty sure all have head jerking power but which ones are better....
But most important is quality, what repairs should I be expecting, what normal problems come with these cars etc...

Carl I know you've owned a few TA's so your opinion is valued as well as others even if you haven't owned these cars.

Also to Rick Daniel, if I were to purchase the TA what kind of negotiation leverage should I expect, also am I allowed to use my GM credit card earnings for the TA. Also can you lease a used car, never really heard of leasing used cars unles they were BMW's....Also is GM Smartbuy available for used cars, I think thats the one where you put down a deposit, plus low monthly payments and then a balloon payment of whatever is left....

Thanks in advance guys, I would really appreciate all opinions and all info as possible to make my decision easier, like I said nothing will take place until March so I have a lot of time to think an weigh my options, and your opinions will definetly help me out a lot

I assume you've considered a nice used C4?

I know that the cars you are considering are much more practical from a space standpoint, but they aren't Corvettes

(since this is a non-Z06 specific topic, it should probably be in misc).

Well I was thinking about a used ZR-1, but when they are similar in price and 5-8 years newer with a lot less miles, the newer gets the call.....But a ZR-1 is still an option, but I think once Dad hears Corvette, he will think insane car isurance....I live in NJ....Unless o course one of you guys re willing to sell me your Z06 for that pic, thats a differant story....Honestly Frank I don't think Sheralynn doesn't need her Z

The 2000 TA will whip any of the others except the 99TA. I would check on the insurance. My 89 GTA was expesive but it depends on where you live. NC is 10 times cheaper than VA. I had a perfect record. A C4 would be cool to just depends on what you like. I love the way the f-bodys look. Not much on the 94-up stangs. But a Blower on a 96-up stang is a mean combo. Just get what YOU want!!

Just make sure it will have a good trade in value when you can get a Z06!!

No contest, the TA's will whip the Rustangs! I don't think you'll find much difference in power between a '99 and a '00, shop around for the best price that way. Insurance is going to be very painful though, I'd expect over $300 a month!!! Let us know what you get.

In New Jersey 500 a month would be expected, but it would probably go under my Dad's name so we will see....

Go with either the 99' or 00' Trans Am. You will not be sorry.

The Trans Am's look "Bad Ass". Everyone owns a Rustang... so it seems.

Ins. for C4 vs T/A

I've heard people say that the insurance is cheaper on their C5 than it was on their T/A. Is that true for C4s also. If so I would go for the C4

I really like the looks of the Cobras, especially the ones with the big nostrils on the hood.

The power is really important to me so I would probably go with the fastest stock of the bunch...2000 T/A.
