Absolutely totalled C6 at Courtesy Chevy in San Jose
I dropped off my '07 Tahoe for it's first service this morning and saw this parked on the lot. The story is that a guy bought it for an anniversary gift to his wife and they were out driving it (note both airbags deployed) and wrecked it into a house and hauled back to the dealer 3 HOURS after it was taken off the lot (dealer tags still on the car!). Note the sheetrock in the passenger seat and there's sheetrock dust and framing wood splinters all over the car. The rear wheels were like one of the Marx brothers both knocked outward at the front of the wheel. Windshield bashed in (looks like a piece of wood went right into the driver part of the windshield...hope the occupants are OK!). The car is just totalled..everything I saw was damaged...interior, exterior (all panels), front left wheel was split into two! ...and the left fender was gone.
These pics were taken with my crummy RAZR phone, but when I go back to pick up the truck, I'll have my dSLR camera with me! More pics later (if the car is still there where it was "parked"...or more like dropped off by the tow truck!).
I think the only thing worse than wrecking your brand new Corvette (3 hours after you bought it) into a house is wrecking it into you own house!
Brand new C6 coupe: about $50,000
Getting some later that night from your spouse: (see above dollar value)
Wrecking your new C6 coupe 3 hours after you get it: Priceless!
Funniest thing is my 4 year old daughter was there with me and when she looked into the car, she said "Daddy, that Corvette is all broken and the stuffing is coming out!" (referring to the airbags).
That thing didnt, Just hit a house, It hit the house and kept going, Thats going to cost big money, wow my dad's Grandam had some body work torn of the left side and the rear indipendent suspension linkage was gone, that there was 4k, thats to fix a Grandam, not a Corvette, this guy is in for it Hopefully they were ok, probably driving like idiots, imagine being the owner of the house he hit
Man, that car is trashed! Do you know if the couple made it okay? Know who was driving it? So they actually drove it into their OWN home? Tools.
Some people should stick to driving Kia's.
Don,
Not sure if they drove it into their own home... I was just saying that it would suck even more if that were the case. I was told from one of the service writers there that the car was driven into a house and judging from all the sheetrock and wood splinters, I believe that 100%.
I'll get more on the story when I return in few hours to get my Tahoe.

bjaber,
Cool, keep us posted. I think it might suck even more financially if they ran into someone else's house. Either way, their corvette driving days are over very quickly.
How did you explain about the car to your daughter?
Officer the roof panel blew off and scared me to death. That's when I lost control. Call G.M., they'll back me up. What a pile of junk. Hope they made it out o.k.

LOL....BTW, there was another C6 there with duct tape on the roof panel waiting to be replaced. I also saw two C6Z's there waiting for service.
