Alain Prost says "No way GTR does 7:29"

Alain Prost says "No way GTR does 7:29"

Quote:
A nice comparison in the upcoming issue of italian Quattroruote, to be released by the end of the month. The test driver is Alain Prost.

There are already some unofficial results and GT-R haters will be very happy.

Vairano track :

Scud - 1:15,1s
GT2 ~ 1:15,2s (allegedly "very close")
LP560 - 1:15,6s
GT-R ~ 1:19s

Prost was allegedly not satisfied with the GT-R handling and couldnt believe this car can lap the Ring in 7:29.

0-1000m took the GT-R about 22 seconds.

Take it with a grain of salt as these results are not official.

Maybe it is just me, but I find all the GT-R specs to be a bit odd. Once the actual production cars hit the test, we'll know for sure.

I find the whole playstation thing odd. Next you know you will able to dial in the weather to factor fuel air mix via Internet, and also automatically upload your lap times with a high score nickname. Subarus newest is the samething. What happened to the noun drive?

Hype vs. skeptics. Both play against each other to publicize one another. Like you say, take it with a grain of salt.

I looked at the newest Car & Driver (I think)...The GTR in there was 1 second slower to 60 and 1/4 and down around 10mph trap speed. Again, looks/sounds like Nissan brought a ringer to the earlier tests because how do you lose that kind of mph?

Kind of like the C&D original comparison "test" of tha Pontiac GTO vs. the Ferrari GTO for those of us who remember the article. The comparison and the repercussions made the GTO the talk of the automotive community for years.

Only later was it made known that the GTO had a balanced and blueprinted 421 in it instead of a 389.....and a bit of suspension work too. Those were the days !!! Smokey Yunick like creativity among test cars given to the press and don't even get me started on the original TransAm cars with Bud Moore, Autodynamics, and Penske and their competitive advantages.
I've been in the aftermarket racing and performance industry over 30 years and it always amazes me what fanboys believe and want to believe.

Nissan knows how to play the game too.

The local Nissan fanboys are slowly begining to understand as more and more production car tests happen.
