That's 2.2 lbs/hp. To put that in perspective, the ZR1 is around 5.25 lbs/hp. So this thing has got over two and a half times the power to weight ratio of a ZR1. Not to mention the handling that comes from having a 1100 lb car.
Of course, the ZR1 has more features, such as a roof, and windows.
And, wait until this video hits the streets vs the VIPER ACR and ZR1 at the 'RING.
"ARIEL ATOM SMASHES THE COMPETITION AT 'RING BY 30 SECONDS" or whatever.
I seen one at the 'Ring at it was pretty cool looking GO KART!
Can't wait to see the performance STATS.

That is a cool car but shouldn't even compare to a vette or viper.
You consider that thing a car? Seriously, I would feel ridiculous driving it on the street, but I'd love to rent one for track days! It's gotta be better than any Vette or Viper in every single performance category...by a significant margin.
On second thought, I better not rent one. I might not want to give it back.
More like a 4 wheeled motorcycle. Not practical in any remote sense, but I bet it's a serious rush to drive. I wouldn't mind one for a weekend either. In fact, I think every city over 10K population should have a place that rents them out for those times when you, err, need such a vehicle.
The Atom is something of an extreme case, but it shows why weight is The Enemy. A much lower power (300 hp) version of this went 3 seconds faster around Top Gear's test track than a C6Z. And no matter faster or slower, I've no doubt it's close to as much as you can have on a track short of a Formula 1 car. Hard for me to imagine a car that'd be more fun. On the track. For a few hours a week. When it was nice out.
Rest of the time... yeah, something more practical is in order.
