Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg are close, for those seeking "diversity" (as if looking @ 5000 Vettes will give you much time for much else...). Carlisle itself offers some rudimentary eating/drinking spots, although, as you can imagine, there's a lot of competition for seating...
Oh, for those others considering going, better start dialing NOW for reservations if you haven't secured them, already. MANY folks reserve a year ahead (!)...
Worth the trip, if you can make it!

We will have a good showing in the Z06 section of the on-site parking. As stated above, most come on Friday/Saturday. Tom F and I will be staying near Harrisburg. After a day in very hot temps - dinner and a few beers is all I can take for nightlife....

I'm planning on attending on Friday if it doesn't rain. My rain date is Saturday. It's down and back in one day from State College.

I usually head to Carlisle events on Saturdays with my dad. By Sunday the place is almost empty. We were out at the GM show a few weeks back but have yet to hit the Corvette show. He always wanted to go to the Corvette show so I might just let him drive the Z out there!

CRAP!...I just realized I am coming back from a business trip to San Diego and Port Hueneme, CA on Fri 26 AUG. Hmm...looks like dad is driving out on Sat while I catch some ZZzzzs.....

See the thread "Carlisle 2005 Spot Change For Z06's" under Events
I'm not far away, and am going up Friday afternoon to find a pair of used front F1SC stockers for my autox set; will work the NCCC booth for a while.
Coming back Sunday for the "instructional" AutoX put on by Cumberland Valley Corvette Club. Trying to get some converts from the waxer side...

Carlisle is so huge - anyone who hasn't been doesn't know what they're missing! It dwarfs any other `vette show. The endless threads about the Fest - the threads should be about Carlisle!

I will be going Friday and leaving Sunday. Getting rooms close to the fairgrounds is tough even months early - let alone now. You probably won't get closer than Harrisburg with a room at this point.

See you all there!

Carlisle > Z06 Fest ... NOT!

Well, I've been to both now, and I beg to differ. The Z06 Fest is a celebration of the car and the total ownership comaraderie experience. Carlisle is a huge market place that can leave one numb from exposure ... too much ... a sensory and shopping OD.

IMHO

I can't make it this year
For anyone considering it - it is definitely worth the trip.
Aside from the awesome "sea of Vettes" I got some very good deals on a few things last year.

I'd love to make the Fest - perhaps I can go next year. Carlisle is also a "celebration" of not only the Z06, but of all Corvettes. Everyone is so into the camaraderie - yes it borders on overkill and you can suffer burnout. BUT.... you will see EVERY manner of mod that exists!

The parade on Saturday night into downtown Carlisle is way cool as everyone blips throttles and squeals tires to entertain the crowds lining both sides of the streets!

Not to be missed!

Go , enjoy the place. Even I got a celebrity pick last year . All the Z06's on the hill is impressive,to say the least. Listen to the Corvettes on the dyno, some nice sounds from there. Last year was our first, the WPCC tent is just over the hill from Z-heaven. If it can be squeezed into your summer go . We stay the weekend, only 3 or so hrs away depending on radar.
