Declined!

I finally decide on a new set of front tires to get. It was a long drawn out process, followed by much mental anguish. The decision is made, research completed, pricing solidified.

We are sorry sir, but your credit card has been declined…”

“What? No that must be a mistake, I have a $15,000 limit and it’s paid off – could you try again.”

“We are sorry sir, but your card is still declined…”

“I'm sorry I will need to call you back.”

GRRRR. OK stupid CC Company. Let me just call and yell at someone.

“Your current balance is $14,996.85, Your available credit is $3.15.”

“Umm, I thought this card was paid off last month?”

“Yes sir, we have $14,996.85 new charges during this period.”

“Hmm, I don’t recall making any charges this month.”

“Do you allow anyone else to use your credit card?”

“Well just my girlfriend, but only for emergencies…”

Long, uncomfortable pause…. Faint laughing can be heard in the background…

“I see, thank you”

Now all I can say is this years Christmas gift better include the words “New Supercharger, New Turbocharger, or New CAR!” otherwise my New Years gift is probably going to include the words “New Girlfriend!”

I would definitley call the credit card company to make sure you are not a victim of identity theft.

They can tell you what was spent and where. Then call the companies (usually the credit card company can give you the phone number of the vendor..)

Better safe than sorry.

Good luck..

I'm shocked your CC company didn't call you and ask if you knew of some large expeditures being made recently with your card.

Hope it all works out like you _think_ it will.

No shit...... I'd cancel that card. I put 3k on mine and they called within a half hour. Let's hope it's just a computer glitch.... Good luck....

Damn, I can't believe they wouldn't call. I took a month long vacation last year to Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia and part way into the trip the fraud department shut the card off because of suspicion of fraud since these weren't my usual kind of spending on that card... After going to several banks in Australia, showing my passport, D.L., and other ID, they finally turned the card back on... I told the company I appreciate them looking out for us but have they ever heard of a vacation? Not like these were internet charges....

Don't worry, there will be a brand new GSXR 1000 under the tree with all new riding apparel. Which reminds me...

Its always a good idea to call the CC BEFORE traveling to Europe or anywhere outside the USA. Last time I went to London, I called Amex beforehand and they were very glad I called to give them a heads-up as to my travels. Also saved me from any inconvenience. Five minutes saves a lot of headache these days....

Well they wouldn't call me for high activity, I frequently run up high amounts rapidly for work, and I have it in my account to not freeze the card.

If I have them fax me a list of activity, then I will know what she bought me for presents. I will just wait and see what I get, if it’s a stolen card I can always cancel it later.

Keep in mind that I NEVER told her she could use my money to buy gifts, but then again she is a girl - so I guess I really should have just expected it. I don’t try and figure out the rules when it comes to girls, they just change them on me if I do.

I am damn getting damn curious though. I mean what the hell could cost that much, and is there any chance it's actually mine? I guess it's a good thing I didn't give her the platinium card!

It sounds like $15 grand comes to you much more easily than it does to me.
