Excellent Customer Service from GM!

In reading the owner's manual for my C6, I had a concern regarding the replacement part number for the air filter element. The manual shows pn A917C. After looking at one in the local auto parts store, I recognized it as a C5 element. The C6 air filter assembly is unique to the C6, it consists of two identically shaped elements. I notified GM of the possible misprint in the manual, and was told it would be investigated.....Within 24 hours I received a follow-up phone call from a GM rep thanking me for the information and notifying me of the correct replacment part number: A2945C, which is GM pn 10342024.

I was also informed that the PF44 oil filter is acceptable for the C6. This filter will soon be discontinued. The replacement oil filter will be a PF46, GM pn 88984215. This filter has an anti-drain back feature built in.

Thanks to GM for a prompt, courteous and thorough response.

Zippy, I had pretty good luck with GM customer service. The only problem was I had a difficult time understanding the thick Indian accent on the other end. Seriously, did you notice the same thing? It's the foreign outsourcing of jobs at work again!

Did you ask him where he was located? (due to the accent) If he were to reply Punjab India for example then you could claim outsourcing. If he replied "I'm in Dearborn Michigan" ...well, you get the point.

Ahhh! So THAT's the difference between the PF44 and PF46! I've been asking, but haven't seen any reply. My local dealer parts dept said that the 46 superceeded the 44.

Hey, have you noticed that the new customer service mantra seems to be "I can help you with that"? Seems like whenever I call some customer service dept that it seems to be the first thing they are required to say, before they go on to tell you what can actually be done...

Why would the filter need a drain back feature, since it mounts vertically?

NIce to read something positive about GM for a change, thanks.

Resist,
Maybe the filter does a better job of hanging on to small contaminants if the oil can only flow through the filter in one direction. Kinda think it eliminates any "back wash". Just a guess.
