It has been awhile since I've posted a new topic and thought this might be usefull to some or many.

Ok Joe, I'm game. I've had one of their lighweight Aluminum racing jacks for well over 6 years, use it all the time and it still works great. I guess that don't suck.

I have a billet floor jack, jack stands and some trouble lights from them. They don't suck. However, most everything else I've bought there do suck.

Being a high school welding teacher. I go thru A LOT of tools. About the only tool that I have found from Harbor are their "cheap" hammers...ALL sizes...but what you do is take out the wooden handle and weld in a piece of steel pipe..or heavy bar stock the size that fits your hand...you can even take A LARGE bolt maybe 6 to 8 inches long with a head on it and you would really be surprised hold well it sits in your hand...AND with the head there the base of your hand will keep it from sliding out. You can NOT buy a hammer like you can build. I love a little short handle hammer and it works well when you are in tight spots. Back to my students, YES they can tear up a steel ball with a rubber hammer, BUT if you buy better tools, they last a LOT longer...the old saying really holds true for here..."you just get what you pay for"....One last thing on Harbor Freight Tools, remember this....IF it has any moving parts, it will most likely break and will not hold up or will not fit? well....NOW for your personal tools, one of the VERY BEST places to go are Pawn Shops, but there again you really need to know what you are looking at and make sure you are getting a good price.....you can get "Snap-On, Matco, and Sears, for about 1/4 the price..also DO NOT be afarid to "dicker them down on price. I also buy a lot of "school" tools from Northern Tool...good prices and a bunch better tool. Now if you guys need a Welding Machine, be sure and send me a message and I will give advice on what to buy for you personal shop. SORRY GUYS!! did not mean to get long on this subject, but been using tools for about 45 years.....and remember what I believe...how much is too much horsepower????...you can never have too much, and you can never go to fast!!!haha
Later, Jim
I have the Alu racing jack (2 years hard use) and the $24 buffer (buffed 4 cars now...lol).
So far so good.

I bought a pressure pot type spray gun...I wouldn't do any fine work with it on a car body or anything but for what I used it for it worked pretty well. I've had one of their race jacks...it lasted a few years but finally gave out...probably could have fixed it. Jack stands that I still use some. I've had a few of their air tools...some seem to last ok and others are used a few times and thrown away...but I only paid like $15 for them so no big loss.

If you guys like garages and tools etc. etc. check out The Garage Journal It's a wonderful forum for that kind of thing. There's a huge thread about this topic. Also fun to watch people's build-ups.
EDIT: For the record I have no affiliation w/ them, just enjoy the site. Oh and if you venture over that way they don't tolerate any political jokes. I made an Obama joke and got a 1 day ban... no warning, no nothing. PMed the site admin and he said the site got so run down w/ political talk that he just decided to take a zero tolerace policy and cut it all out. Just a heads up.

Re: Harbor Freight Tools that Don't suck????
Nice to see you posting Joe!!
I have the $79 jack and it works fine....although it arrived low on fluid!!
I went to a repair shop recently to get a portband fixed and noticed a message on the wall....."No Harbor Freight tools accepted for repair"
Chicago Electric must not make their shit in Chicago!!
I have had good luck with harbor freight hand tools, sockets, jack stands, etc. as stated above, anything with moving parts will most likely break.

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble a car and 1 nut to scatter it all over the road.
Their thinwall impact sockets with the plastic coating are great for aftermarket wheel removal.....they protect colormatch painted wheels. And they are about one fifth the cost of the alternative.
