John Hennessey is back... GenIII Viper runs 10.76 @ 127 on stock radials

My buddy owns a 2003 Viper. He has been JH's "guinea pig" for his new Gen III Viper package. The car was recent tested for Car and Driver and yesterday was tested for Motor Trend. Before anyone flames me as some king of "JH Cheerleader" let me explain that I am not. But, I thought some folks might be interested in what the new Gen IIIs are capable of.

Michelin Pilot Runflat Tires (24 psi)
Best ET: 10.76 sec. (1.93 60 ft time)
Best MPH: 132.5 mph (not on the 10.76 pass)
Best 0-60 mph: 2.99 sec.

MT ET Streets (no skinnies were used)
Best ET: 10.44 sec. (1.67 60 ft time)
Best MPH: 133.5 mph
Best 0-60 mph: 2.67 sec.

Specs on SRT10 as Tested Today:
Venom 650R Engine Upgrade
522 CID Stroker Motor
~350 miles on motor
587 rw hp
584 rw tq
High-Flow Catalysts on car
Tested with top up
Fuel Level: Full tank of gas

The car has a stock crank that has been offset ground. The plan was originally to put in a stroker crank, but delivery times on these are so long it was felt that it might never get done. So, the stock crank was offset ground instead. This increased displacement from 505 to 522.

Below is the dyno graph of the car. Stock Dyno vs Upgraded Dyno

There still may be some power that is yet to be found, as it is still running the stock program in the computer. One of the interesting things is that power with H7C was 574RWHP, and with the stroker kit it went to 587RWHP. But, the torque curve got a lot fatter.

Not interested in the promotion of this guy who has harmed so many on these forums. Not a shot at you Jrod, just stating my opinion on your post content. Did you post it on the Viper boards?

Its already on the Viperboards. Again, I'm not real excited about the way JH treated his customers. I feel bad for folks like Taig Stewart and No Mercy on what they had to deal with. My hope is that JH will get his business turned around and settle up with those folks who were mistreated. Again, I'm not trying to "beat the drum for him". Just posting the facts about the car.

And no rob, the computer is not tuned, as there is nothing out there to "tune" a Viper computer.

I'm not beating the drum for JH, aside from Jason Heffner he still remains one of the best Viper tuners out there and has a C5 project he is curently working on, which when complete I'm sure will turn heads as well.

Again, not a JH fan for his business practices, it's such a shame.....just comenting on the tuning. No flames please.

You may be right Dust, but in the same vein, the beltway sniper is a good shot.

If he settles up with everyone, that still won't make things whole again with some of his customers...there is just no way.

I see JH is back wasn't mentioned in that post on that board. Is there another one? I am just figuring they'd be really down on the whole deal with that topic title.

Did you ever notice how the same questions are asked every few months. That's my fear, that some new reader will see that article and go to Hennessey and maybe get taken advantage of (like many others have). Until JH repays EVERY single dime and has a 1000 new satisfied customers John Hennessey remains someone to stay far far away from. There are to many other good REPUTABLE Viper tuners to take your car to and get the same or better results.

JH's name is in the forum blocker. If you try to post his name, it bleeps it. So, you will see ******** instead of his name. The folks over there know exactly whose package it is...

Actually, no there really aren't....that is exactly why he continues to stay in business. What's really amazing is how he continues to grow despite his business practices, I hope for board members like No Mercy he repays his debts. There is no excuse for the travesty which has occurred......but aside from that, strictly on a car tuning level, he finds himself yet again right back in the limelight.

If John repaid his debts, I have no doubt his business and reputation would recover......he is that good. There are many who do business with him despite his reputation with full knowledge of his past. It is also my understanding those business practices tend to be a thing of the past and to the best of my knowledge are no longer happening. I'm no expert, or JH fan as far as that goes.....but it's an ongoing story in my backyard.

All aside and looking at the performance and car that can run a 10.7 with a six foot of only 1.9 has alot of potential. Get that car hooked and it is going to run pretty darn fast.

Yep, we've all see how hard it is to get around a forum blocker.

I just giggle at the term about him being back...like that is a good thing.
