Looking at Dodge Trucks-Am I crazy?

Drove a new Chevy Diesel-Duramax yesterday, frankly I wasn't real impressed. Styling hasn't changed since my 96 Chevy truck. Ride was horrible. Truck had a hesitation from start-up but then seemed real fast.

Drove by a Dodge dealer and decided to look at a Cummins Quad cab short bed. Kinda open and plain inside but a nice layout. Dash was nicer. Chevy has Bose, Dodge has Infinity?? Truck hauls-ass for a diesel and IMO, looks better. The Dodge Quad cab is actually a super cab with 4-doors, not a true "'crew cab" which actually suits my taste better, it has 4 doors, but is shorter overall.

Both truck are real quiet for diesels.

Anyone know if the 05's are gonna change much for chevy??

Dodge seemed okay at first look, But do they hold up as well?

Comments please?? I know "Chevy rules" but comments please.

I know I've beat this dead horse before but if it was my nickel, I would look at the Ford trucks. They really do make an awesome truck and they are very reliable. Look at a consumer report on vehicle satisfaction and owner loyalty. There is a reason Ford trucks have been the world's best selling vehicles. Just go by the Ford dealership and look at them with an open mind. I bet you'll be surprised.

I have a 95 F150 and it has NEVER been in the shop nor have I had to repair or replace anything on it except for a door speaker.

Just my $.02

I agree about chevy, they dont compare when it comes to new trucks. Dodge is nice but I herd resale is bad. If I had to buy a diesel right now it would be a FORD F250, thats the only truck I really like ford makes. I rode in the back seat of one on a trip and it was really comfortable and had lots of room and the guy got 18 mpg!!! cant beat that.

If you plan to tow anything heavy, I recommend getting a dooley, or is it dually? It takes out the sway and you won't even know what's back there.

If you're not stuck on diesel, try the Chevy 2500 with the 8.1 liter engine. That motor has some huge balls! There is no replacement for displacement.

IMO

Infinity makes great speakers, i have them on my home theatre system...

regarding which truck to get... there are 3 topics i don't discuss on a public forum:

1) abortion
2) politics
3) chevy v. ford v. dodge

I just sold my 95 Dodge and had great service from it. I don't have any experience with the Dodge diesel but the engine is cummings and it is supposed to be tough. The cab space arrangement and storage under the seats is better on the Dodge. My neighbor has a 350 Ford that I have used quite a bit for towing. It has some transmission issues, particularly if you have to do any backing while towing. The trans will overheat in a heartbeat. It is now on its second tranny and is about due again after 70m miles.

Well, just got a call from my chevy dealer. He offered me a new fully loaded truck for 35K. Hard to pass up.

i'd get a GMC 2500 diesel quad cab. then i would put on the escalade front clip, and put on bank power exhaust and ecu. great power, looks, and comfort.

GMC makes a good truck too, I would just look at a ford before you jump, as a matter of fact look at as many options as you can to see witch one fits you best.

No. Although I see hardfast brand loyalty amongst cars quite often, many people jump ship when it comes to trucks. I know many people that are die hard Chevy car guys and love Ford trucks.

I'm sure a few guys were gonna give me wise guy answers but I was looking for some honest opinions too, I think I got some already.

BTW, I love old MOPAR cars too.

I find it more "loco" that you seem to interject your "opinion" on EVERY single thread. Hey, you fired the first shot.

You should try all three FORD, DODGE, and CHEVY/GMC. Sounds like you already ruled out CHEVY/GMC. Do a comparison now between the FORD and DODGE. Good Luck and let us know what you decide!

BTW, I own a Ford truck.

Like someone else mentioned earlier, while you usally take a beating on any trade-in, you seam to take a caning on a Chrysler product. Also, doesn't Chrysler still seam to have more than their fair share of tranny troubles?

I'll be hauling my Z up to BG with a Ford truck.

I really like the Ford if you are going to tow anything. It seems like you could tow a house with all the torque these big turbo diesels make. You can run 75 mph NO problem towing a 12,000 pound loaded trailer (goose neck hitch). I would check all of them out before I decide. JMO.
