MTI 8/21 Lunch

Hey Houston Guys.

A friend of mine is going to get some mods done to his Z06 down at MTI on Sat. He is coming in town from CC. If anyone would like to hit up some lunch Sat. and hang for a few down at MTI. Post in here.

I know the weather might not be the best. But I thought I would cast it out there. Anyone up for it?

I will try to make it down. I have a meeting Sat. Morning But I will try to be done by lunch time though.

Hey guys, sounds like fun....just wanted to drop a line and see how Caseys car is goin. I was at MTI on wednesday for about a half hour on my way to Florida, and saw it still sitting there. Just wondering what was going on with it.

We haven't done anything with it yet...

Is it still sitting in the same bay? I think I'm going to let them start working on it next month. It's going to be pretty pricey so...I didn't want to spread myself too thin on other things. That's why I haven't had it fixed yet. I'm really having serious withdrawals lately so we need to get it fixed pretty soon. All is good though...thanks for asking.

Hope your trip to FL was uneventful and good luck!

I can make if the weather holds....call me on my cell phone. I think I'll get w/David to set up a time and final cost for stage2e heads while I'm there.

havent you thought about getting AFR heads? seems to be a cheaper and better alternative. If i were you i would get AFR 205 heads with dual springs and have the heads milled to 11.1 compression ratio. you will probably hit 440-450 and that is impressive for your cam.

Casey: cars still in the same bay....quite dusty though . Im glad youre gonna get started on it soon, cant wait to see how it turns out. The trip to FL wasnt too bad....only got pulled over twice....no tickets though

Rob: I guess youre gonna beat me to those heads....moving expenses mean that Im gonna have to wait another month or so. As far as the AFR v. the 2E heads....the 2Es are only 1500 v. 2500 for the AFR heads. Plus Im a little worried about the higher compression ration of the AFR heads for a daily driver. Also, I know it may sound stupid, but the AFR heads are all LS1 heads, and even though my car isnt stock or all original, I would like to keep heads on there with an LS6 casting number, in the unlikely event that in 30 years, every other 2002 EB Z06 on the road spontaneously combusts.

Anyway, hope you all have fun

FLYNAVY30, glad to see you made the trip safe...and yes, I just can't wait till the end of the year to get the heads install. and 2002ZO6 YELLOW, I don't dispute that the AFR heads are good, but NOBODY touches my ride when it comes to mods,(except MTI) and I trust MTI... their recommended mods so far have put me from 338rwhp to 420rwhp. Think I'll happily stay with the MTI stage IIE heads.

If I don't get to 445-450rwhp@MTI with their heads set up and my "little" MTIC2 cam I'll be HIGHLY dissapointed.

i hope i am not hijacking the thread, but MTI 2E heads are 1600. That includes you giving them your core LS6 heads for a core charge. AFR heads are 2300 but you get to sell your ls6 heads for 800 that will leave you with 1500. I may be off by a few bucks here or there but the point i am trying to make here is that they are VERY close in price. The only differnece is that the AFRs flow a little more. the AFRs can be had with stock compression ratio i THINK. Even though, 11.1 is not something to be scared off on a H/C car running 93 octane.

I am trying to discuss this becuase i know that you guys have MTI cams and i just joined the club, i just want to know what my future fronteirs are.

I understand the point to be made when you say that you want ot keep LS6 heads on your car, becuase then you dont have an aftermarket head, you just have your stock heads ported. I also wouldnt let anyone touch my engine but MTI and i am sure they sell them and can install them.
